Yura Surova's Millennium Character Profile
Profile
A member of the Moscow Police Department, Yura assisted Frank and N.Y.P.D. Lieutenant McCormick in the apprehension of Yaponchik, a man he describes as a "Russian bogeyman" and who many believed was responsible for the accident at Chernobyl.
Yura confronted Yaponchik in a Russian bathhouse and shot him in the head, a mortal wound predicted in the Book of Revelation. But Frank discovered the Bible also said Yaponchik would miraculously survive. He then went to Yaponchik's hospital room, but found he had somehow convinced Yura to take him to the roof.
As a helicopter touched down to escort Yaponchik to safety, Yura realized his mistake and ran to Frank weeping.
