Profile

A technician who worked in the FBI Forensic Sound Lab, Doug assisted Frank ("Mr. B.") on several occasions. Although he determined the mysterious cassette tape sent to Frank by Alice Severin was nothing but white noise (every sound in the audio spectrum played at the same time) it actually subconsciously manifested Frank‘s worst fear - that he was to blame for Catherine‘s death (The Sound of Snow).

Scaife also examined a virus Frank had found on his computer, but was unable to decipher the code because it kept rewriting itself like a snake biting its own tail. The virus would occasionally flash "We are racing toward an Apocalypse of our own creation" on the screen (Bardo Thodol).

He later discovered Lucas Barr‘s alias was Daniel Baron and gave Frank the location of Barr‘s girlfriend Cheryl Kellough‘s home (Goodbye To All That).
