In North Dakota, Sally Dumont had a near escape at the hands of an emerging psychosexual killer, which caught the attention of Frank Black and the Millennium Group.

After Sally rode a horse back to her farm, she guided the animal into a stall in the stable when she discovered another horse, its coat stained with blood, lying on the ground inside its pen. As she knelt down next to it to investigate, Sally noticed someone wearing a pair of rubber boots standing in the adjoining stall. Terrified, she made her way to a phone and called for help. Suddenly, the intruder loomed up from behind and knocked Sally unconscious.
