Episode Summary

It is discovered that Millennium Group dissidents are not those responsible for taking the cross of Christ's crucifixion. In actuality, a sinister third party, a group of Nazis known as Odessa, are the ones to blame for killing Group members, taking the cross, and trying to pull the Black family into their midst. Only the Group's leading Old Man and the two recently expelled candidates, Frank and Lara, can bring this evidence into the open and pull things back together in time... before there is no more Millennium Group.

The Old Man's Funeral

I think that of all the scenes I've seen on Millennium, this is my favourite. It shows Millennium at its absolute best. I don't think I can conceive a scene more lyrical or sweepingly powerful as this. The choice of Wagner's Parsifal as the music not only makes sense in relation to the story, but gives the scene the grand scope it deserves. In short, to describe this scene, it's not scary or troubling or even exceedingly important to the rest of the season, just very pleasing. It's not what I think about when I think of Millennium, but it just takes the viewer to another realm entirely. Everything works in this scene. The music is excellent, the Elder's speech, while convoluted, is finely constructed, and the editing is beyond compare. The way they fit the scenes to match up with the music is outstanding. Another reason I love this scene is because it is so original. I don't think you could ever see this anywhere else. It truly defines the show, separating it from its competitors.
