  1. Thanks Gotham! I saw it pop up on my trusty Amazon Firestick but I’m stockpiling it until I can binge watch it!

The UK press has published some spoilers before it screened which I managed to avoid, but I hope it’s not what I think it will be.

  2. Finally nailed this track down, the ‘make out’ music heard in The Pest House opening bridge scene is….

    Millennium drum roll please…

The Present (As Heard In Random Hearts) by Tony Reynolds.

I can’t find the lyrics yet but will add it to the music guide at some point…

    “Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed to anyone…”

There’s a copy on YouTube… what do you think, around 2:35 into the song?

As others have said, it brought me right back to the show! I loved being able to visualize Frank and Jordan, Emma Hollis, even McClaren.

This! I just posted something similar in the Chatbox and you are absolutely right, it struck me too. The VS are amazing to have, a great deal of work went into them and to be honest, if you have never read them, you are in for a treat. Kudos completely to the VS4 and VS5 teams.

I've downloaded the first 5 to my eReader so far. Looking forward to the second episode later today.

I know this topic is about a specific episode, but just wanted to say thanks again for the feedback. I'm glad to have been able to resurrect VS4 from the murky depths of the Wayback Machine. I added the Behind the Script extras where available to each download yesterday in case you downloaded them prior. I will add the remaining interviews and content in the next day or so.

I hope the VS4 creators don't mind, I haven't edited the actual episodes in any way that's not my place to do so. I just updated the character set for modern devices and websites, so the letters with accents and symbols etc don't appear as broken black squares. Plus I made them available in PDF and Epub formats for convenience.

  4. Hope everyone is safe, well and warm in Northern US and Canada, with the mega cold snap. In the UK we've seen some glimpses of the effect. One was a video of a pan of boiling water being thrown into the air (never a good idea!) and instantly turnng to snow, apparently known as the Mpemba effect!

I keep thinking about the people in Ukraine with no power, heating, safety or anything but hope and their incredible spirit to keep them warm in this senseless war.

    Stay warm everybody.

  5. Hi there,

Apologies for that! It was actually not referring to your good self, it was the MariaDB database being rude to Apache, the web server!

I normally get 1000 StatusCake alerts if the site is down for more than a few minutes, but technically it was up, so I wasn't aware.

You'd think the ad agencies would realize there's a law of diminishing returns, but I guess not.

    I love that!

Sometimes, (at bandcamp 😉), if I download a show from on demand/catchup service that I didn't record, it has no ads at all, and I'm left pleasantly surprised, all warm and fuzzy that my expensive subscription was enough! I just get the little idents with no ads between them. Happens on Discovery HD a lot.

  7. That's a shame, I hope it gets further availability.

I just finished watching all 4 seasons of The Bridge (the original Swedish/Danish version) after watching the 2 season US version. Both were absolutely excellent and just as original, intriguing and well written as The Tunnel (the UK version of the Swedish version (phew!) I saw years back). So many twists and turns! The first opening 10 mins of The Tunnel still blows me away.

I either forgot or didn't realise but S1 of Der Pass was based on S1 of original Swedish/Danish The Bridge (itself based on an acclaimed book), so I'm keen to see if there are more elements, each version has its own interpretation and story as well as the original premise.

All of these are worth watching in their own right if you've not discovered the genre yet and the subtitles don't detract at all.

PS. Avoid Wikipedia and it's rotten spoilers policy if you intend to watch any of these related shows, they will spoil them for you. :Grrrrr:

  8. Hi both,

Good question! I like polls too!

A mix here. Amazon Prime/Video, Sky which provides a mix of satellite and on demand streaming. I keep wanting to bin Sky off, it's so expensive now, and stick with Amazon and get Netflix instead.

I only tend to watch the news live these days, huge respect and crush on the BBC's Martine Croxall, but also because the amount of ads and ad breaks is crazy! You have to skip them on 30x fast forward!

Still have my beloved DVD shelf, of course. Never bought a Blu ray player, availability of streaming and satellite HD kind of beat me to it. If it's not on TV in HD, I no watch.

My 42" plasma is now quite old, but still has awesome 1080p picture but it's full HD, not 4K. My Sky box isn't the newer Sky Q 4K version either.

I could watch in 4K on my PC monitor, but never do as it's not got a USB sofa attached to it and Amazon Prime doesn't support 4K on their Windows 10 app. 4K YouTube content is stunning though!

  9. Great news, Season 2 of Der Pass appeared this week!
All episodes downloadable on Sky On Demand/Now TV if you have access to it.

Can't wait to see if it's as good as the first season! Apparently it takes place a year after S1, so I'm hoping there's more breathtaking visuals of those snowy Scandinavian forests and mountains (and creepy ass antler wearing weirdos aplenty).

    Episode Summary

German thriller, starring Julia Jentsch and Nicholas Ofczarek. One year on from the events of the Krampus case, junior police officer Yela Antic finds herself working under the guidance of Ellie Stocker

The trailer is below, in Deutsch of course...

@hobbeschild I'm sorry you didn't get a reply to your post, I completely missed it. I'd have to rewatch S1 to remind myself and be sure but I think you're correct. Hope you get to see S2, this and Absentia are unmissable.

  10. Libby,

How on earth did you scan all those transcript pages? Did you have a high scanner with auto sheet feeder or something? Any tips?

I've never scanned my COFB scripts due to the time it would take, but it just dawned on me that the HP color laser/scanner printer magizmo I bought when I got made redundant in 2017 might be able to speed up the process. It's a big heavy beast gathering dust next to my PC in the attic, so I'll check it out.

  11. Thanks Libby! I'll get them uploaded here for posterity. The link worked fine btw.

I did a search earlier today for scripts and there were a lot of posts, discussion and info surrounding many of the results. I've added tags to them so they'll be easier to find, pop up in the similar content widgets etc. Brought back a lot of TIWWA memories, both good and sad (Erin & Joe).

  12. These scripts are excellent, thanks for the upload Libby! It must have been pain staking working scanning each page.

I didn't realise we were talking about the actual scripts. I have a couple of these but I thought it was something different again, perhaps the pink or blue versions that are mentioned on the TEOTWAWKI front cover. I know one of them refers to shooting locations. If you look back at photos of Lance's collection that he sold via Sue Myatt, you can see some of them. I wish we could have scanned them all first, his were covered in handwritten notes, written by the legend himself.
