  1. Dear friends,

As all of you will know, we began our celebration of the festive season with a little something special from Sarah-Jane Redmond herself with an opportunity to have your words read aloud by Millennium's Lucy Butler. The challenge was to create a festive tale with just enough winter chill and more than a dash of Lucy Butler to ease our Millennium pangs. When we launched the competition I had no idea that it would be so warmly received and that the standard of entries would be so high and so many.

Sarah-Jane undertook the difficult task of reading the entries to select our winner and those in second and third places. I am extremely grateful to her for this as I would have found it impossible hard to do so myself given the standard of the entries and I am pleased to announce that Sarah-Jane has chosen her first, second and third places. In third place we have Ana Miraldo, in second place we have Heath Griner and the winner of the Lucy Butler Audio Competition 2010 is.....

James P. Davis with "Star Of Wonder"!

Congratulations to all of you. Our second and place winners will receive an exclusive signed photograph of Sarah-Jane Redmond as Lucy Butler and I want to congratulate the both of you on making Sarah-Jane's job so difficult when it came to selecting a winning entry. You both created something magical and it was by no means an easy task to pick between the finalists. As for our winner, he will hear his story read out in those devilish tones we love.

So here's to James on such a deserving win and for creating such a superb story for Lucy Butler to feature in. Take a bow Sir, you truly do deserve it.

Thank you to each and every one of you that entered. You are all winners and we truly appreciate the creativity, energy and passion you are willing to demonstrate in support of the show you love and it does not go unappreciated by the cast and crew I can promise you.

    ...

The time is now. Here's is the winning entry of our Lucy Butler Audio Competition 2010 written by the extremely talented James P. Davis and narrated by Sarah-Jane Redmond. All the entries were of a standard I couldn't hope to attain but I have to confess to being blown away by James' when I read it and I know Sarah-Jane was too hence the win. It is such a well written piece with lots of references and subtle touches and it is undoubtedly a Christmas story which is what we were looking for. I was particularly impressed with the sheer scope of it and how it seemed to have a mythology all of its own. I have also included a download link for those of you who like the opportunity to have a copy to listen to at their leisure. I wanted to take this opportunity to than all our entrants - the standard was exceptionally high and you all deserve a round of applause so take a box. Further congratulations to James for creating such a memorable entry and one that I am sure you will all agree deserved to win and last but by no means least my gratitude to Sarah-Jane Redmond for the considerable time, support and enthusiasm she afforded us this year to help make our festive season a Millennium festive season. Enjoy the story folks and be sure to leave your thoughts when you have heard it, I am sure James would appreciate that.

We have an exclusive comic strip bringing "Frank Black" back in his first adventure for over a decade (courtesy of artist and writer, Barry Renshaw with an ongoing series to follow), contributions from Millennium cast and crew members, Mark Snow, Peter Outerbridge, Robert McLachlan and Marshall Bell and from Movie Director and Writer, Brett Hart and Author M R Sellars. In addition to which we have games, an especially commissioned birthday anthem, seventy reasons why we love Lance Henriksen and much, more more.

Special thanks must be afforded to Matt Allair of www.x-fileslexicon.com and Laura and Frank of https://www.spooktalkular.com/ for their contributions and as the week unfolds we expect more surprises and fun.

  7. John Kenneth Muir.

The wonderful John Kenneth Muir has been an outspoken supporter of Millennium, in fact I quoted one of his remarkable insights and reflections into the series for our Episode Guide's Introduction to Millennium, I hope he doesn't mind!

Recently John was granted what turned out to be a fascinating and lengthy interview with Millennium's equally wonderful creator Chris Carter. I won't give anything away except to say that its a great interview and one not to be missed.

As Wikipedia puts it, John Kenneth Muir (born 1969) is an American literary critic. He has written over twenty-one reference books in the fields of film and television, with a particular accent on the horror and science fiction genres. He has been described as one of the horror genre's "most widely read critics", and as an "accomplished film journalist".

You can enjoy reading John's full article including the interview with Chris Carter at his superb blog over at John Kenneth Muir's Reflections on Film/TV. Beware, one note of caution, you'll be glued to John's fascinating website for a very long time, so be sure to bookmark it!

  8. Millennium and X-Files creator Chris Carter.

Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files and Millennium, has just signed on to join Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Frank Spotnitz and Rob Bowman on November 14 at the Beverly Wilshire hotel to talk all things “X-Files” for charity.

Series creator/writer/director Chris Carter, actress Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), actor Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), executive producer/writer Frank Spotnitz and executive producer/director Rob Bowman (currently executive producer and director on ABC’s hit Castle) reunite at the Beverly Wilshire hotel on November 14th, 2009 at 2:00pm to talk all things X-Files and answer burning questions from fans (eg all those rumors about X-Files 3 and the 2012 mythology). This is a rare opportunity for fans and filmmakers alike to get behind-the-scenes scoops on the process of making this iconic television series, ask questions about the panelists’ new projects and raise money for some very worthy causes. The X-Files, created by Chris Carter starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, aired from 1993 to 2002 and spawned two feature films and a spin-off to date.

Considered one of the most successful shows in Fox’s history, the award-winning show’s characters, theme song and slogans have a permanent place in pop culture’s history. Whether you were a fan of the mythology episodes or the monsters of the week, there is no denying that The X-Files made audiences ponder, gasp, laugh and hide their eyes-occasionally all at the same time. Tickets for the Q&A event are now available at https://www.ibginc.org/tickets

Proceeds from this amazing event will be donated in support of the participants’ chosen charities, including The Rape Treatment Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, Off the Street Kids, Fezeka and Children of the Night. The event will be hosted by IBG Inc. In 2008, IBG established an official non-profit campaign focusing on utilizing the power of philanthropy through the arts to benefit a wide range of charities worldwide. IBG acts as a "fundraiser facilitator" for underfunded and start-up charities that would otherwise struggle with the logistics and costs associated with event fundraising.

    Event Details:

    Date: November 14, 2009
Time: Q&A begins at 2:30pm with pre-event raffle scheduled at 2:15pm.
Where: Beverly Wilshire hotel, Beverly Hills
Ticket Prices: $50 for general seating

  9. BacktoFrankBlack.com.

Today, thirteen years later, Millennium celebrates its 13th Anniversary!

Amazingly its been 13 years since Frank Black first profiled his way onto our television screens in the episode 'Pilot'. Millennium's network premier episode was first broadcast in the USA, which attracted over 17 million viewers, the highest rating network premiere in history on October 25th 1996.

October is a special month for Millennium fans. Earlier this month we remembered the birthday of Chris Carter, Millennium's creator who of course named his production company (Ten Thirteen Productions) after his birthday on October 13th. Further ahead this month of course is Halloween, when many Millennium fans take the opportunity to watch the themed episodes 'The Curse of Frank Black' and '... Thirteen Years Later'. To get into the spirit of things, we've decorated our forums with a suitably macabre and ghostly theme, be sure to check it out and be sure to keep an eye on BacktoFrankBlack.com this week.

More than a decade has passed and Millennium is still as topical and relevant as it was 13 years ago, perhaps even more so. With no signs of looking old or showing its age, its still the creative masterpiece that it was 13 years ago, and new viewers are discovering the journey of criminal profiler Frank Black every day.

However you choose to celebrate this special time, consider starting a new run of episode watching tonight in tribute of this wonderful series and of the creative talents of Millennium's cast and crew.

  10. Currently a slew of internet websites are picking up on the subject of a possible Millennium movie and sadly some are spreading incorrect facts and half-truths, following a news article published at website Screenrant.com. The article initially merely speculates on the recent news concerning actor Lance Henriksen (Millennium's lead actor who portrayed criminal profiler Frank Black), who has gone on record via the Millennium movie campaign website BackToFrankBlack.com as saying he has been approached by a group of private investors interested in making an independent Millennium film.

"I have heard rumblings that Fox are interested in bringing Millennium back to screens - possibly without the involvement of Chris Carter and this independent route would seem like a way of doing so. ... Now, be aware that this is speculation, but also something that I have heard through the grapevine, so there might be some truth to it."

The Screenrant article author goes on to state ...

"It is believed that Carter will step aside from the franchise and one name that has been mentioned with regards to directing an independent Millennium film is Brett A. Hart."

Brett Hart has worked with Lance Henriksen on the film Bone Dry and in supporting BacktoFrankBlack.com with interviews and and even a promotional video, he has offered to direct it for free. The Screenrant article features a quote from Brett Hart in which he confirms his support for a feature film.

Since the article was published, a number of websites and blogs have picked up on Screenrant's article and the demand for a Millennium film, but sadly some of them are directly stating that Millennium IS returning as a feature film, whilst others are remarkably stating that Chris Carter will not be involved in the project, despite no evidence to substantiate this claim. One such website I09 states, "Hold on to your 90s conspiracy theories: Millenium is getting a movie, and Lance Henriksen will be returning as his character Frank Black. But here's the rub — show creator Chris Carter is persona non grata on set.".

You can find discussion and links to many of the websites that are picking up on the Screenrant article, some of which are directly stating some of the incorrect facts mentioned above, in this forum topic which was originally created as a request to our forum members not to post unsubstantiated claims about the return of Millennium.

Millennium - This is who we are would like to state that whilst the sites are applauding Lance's performance and the quality of Millennium, such claims published by these websites are simply not true, and are rapidly becoming so called 'Chinese whispers'. To clarify, the situation remains as it always has:

    • BacktoFrankBlack is leading a respectable campaign to gather support and awareness aimed at Fox to make them aware of the demand for a Millennium movie, with the increasing support of several of Millennium leading cast and crew. They have not published any false or misleading claims or misinformation.
    • To the best of our knowledge, a Millennium movie has not been officially sanctioned or green-lit by Fox (although we'd all like to see one!).
    • There is absolutely no truth in the statement that series creator and executive producer Chris Carter will have nothing to do with a Millennium movie.

We would ask that anyone who would like to see a feature film version of Millennium should lend their support to the campaign at BacktoFrankBlack.com, and write a letter or send one of BackToFrankBlack.com's the pre-supplied template post cards, to the following publicity address:

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) is a labor union  representing writers of motion pictures, television, radio and Internet  programming, including news and documentaries. Founded in 1933, the  Guild negotiates and administers contracts that protect the creative  and economic rights of its members. It is involved in a wide range of  programs that advance the interests of writers, and is active in public  policy and legislative matters on the local, national and international  levels. For more information on the WGAW, please visit: www.wga.org.

Below is a pre-election statement from Chip Johannessen, together with a list of his supporters including some very familiar names...

    July 20, 2009 Chip Johannessen

"If the Writers Guild didn't exist we'd have to invent it."

Sid  Sheinberg said that at the height of the 1988 strike, when he was head  of Universal. But that was before Universal was sold to a Japanese  electronics manufacturer, who sold it to a Canadian distillery, who  sold it to a French bottled water company, who sold it to General  Electric, the fifth biggest corporation in the U.S. That was before the  only "independents" in town were called SONY and Warners. You think if  the Guild didn't exist that anyone at these mega-companies would  consider inventing it?

Our strike in 2007 was unwanted, and brutally painful, but it was necessary to guarantee that the WGA doesn't vanish as our work moves to the internet. The companies'  strategy was to side step us entirely as distribution changes, but  there we are. Now we need to stay strong for the negotiations ahead.

    OUR LEVERAGE - UNITY

The more united we are, the more leverage we have.

We're  an odd union. Members don't make the same hourly wage. One member  worries about free rewrites, another about bad cable residuals. And  seniority is a mixed blessing. We came together for the strike, but  there is much that divides us, and those divisions were apparent by the  time the strike ended. Even more sobering, in the last year we've seen  SAG's fractured negotiations play out as a cautionary tale about what  disunity can wreak.

Going into the next round of negotiations I  believe we should focus on a short list of items that unite us. Not  only because that's what concerns more of us, but because it makes us  stronger. Issues not germane to the entire membership (I vaguely  remember mandatory premiere invitations for screenwriters making the  cut 5 years ago) weaken our hand at the bargaining table.

Here's  my list and I'm eager to hear yours. First: enforcement, making sure we  are actually paid what is due. The companies were already ducking  payments from the 2004 agreement, let alone what we won in 2008. In a  future where everything is fragmented and streamed, we'll be empty  handed unless we lock down enforcement now. Next: health and pension,  which are suddenly in play given the national health care discussions  going on in Washington. Finally: residuals, but how about focusing on a  number that affects us all. Electronic sell through is essentially the  much hated DVD formula. Let's make some progress on that.

Coming  off a successful strike, for the first time in decades we're serious,  we have heat. We don't want to squander it by battling each other  instead of the companies.

    THEIR LEVERAGE - CONSOLIDATION

The bigger they get, the less leverage we have.

It  took thirty years of litigation for the media companies to turn the  airwaves from a public trust into their own private property. The  internet could go overnight. "Who owns the internet" is not just a  political question. Mainly it's decided in the courts, and it affects  us profoundly.

I spent a lot of time in law school studying the  sad history of media consolidation, and along the way met the public  interest lawyers who attempt to rein in the companies. As a board  member, I would reach out to these people as natural allies. I'm not  saying we should bring lawsuits or hire lawyers. We shouldn't. But we  can protect our interests by making sure that attorneys know how media  consolidation threatens our creative and financial positions, by  offering testimonial support and even, on occasion, an amicus brief.

Our  work is migrating to the internet, that's what our strike was about. We  have a real stake in the litigation that is sure to come and I think  our voice should be heard.

    EYES ON THE PRIZE

We've been  through a lot the last couple of years, and we want to make sure that  it brings us more than a $2.00 internet residual check. I think I can  help. Because I'm a lawyer, but more importantly because I'm a working  writer.

I've freelanced and staffed and had pilots made, gotten  overalls and been given shows to run, been fired and force majeured.  For nearly two decades I've had the privilege of sitting in second rate  conference rooms with first rate people, talking and writing about all  kinds of amazing things.

The fact I was fairly compensated for  this I owe to the Guild. It's impossible for me not to have the best  interest of this organization at heart.

I'll do my very best to  build on what this Guild started back in 1933 and what the current  leadership continued when they landed us safely on the internet. I'm  asking for your vote.

After a private beta testing period, I'm pleased to announce the launch of our latest feature for fans of Millennium, Chris Carter's critically acclaimed television series, The Millennium Group Homepage.

Long time fans of Millennium will remember one or two fan created homepages over the years featuring the Millennium Group's Ouroborus logo, and whilst this one is no different in featuring the mystical symbol, the aim with our new version has been to make the page as genuinely useful as possible, whilst of course keeping in tradition with series.

Whilst the basic idea is to have the homepage function as an Internet browser homepage as per the request of our forum members, its also perfectly okay to bookmark the page and use it at any time.

Currently the Millennium Group Homepage has the following features:

    • Millennium Group logo with 'Welcome Frank' message and accurate 'days remaining' countdown message in tribute to the Millennium Group network log in screen as seen series.
    • Options to personalise the welcome message, the days remaining countdown timer and as an extra treat, select either the standard Group logo (Ouroborus) or the hacked Owl version depending upon your allegiance!
    • Ajax-powered Google Internet Search using the Google Search API, which means you can perform multiple Google searches without ever leaving the page and narrow your search to Web, News, Images, Blogs, Video (Youtube) and Books, even when flicking through the pages of results. Google currently limit their Search API to a maximum of 64 results, this is not changeable but should be more than enough. Also, there is a small issue with the Blog search results being limited to one page, this is awaiting a bug fix from Google.
    • Built in ajax-powered RSS import - to fetch, display and keep you updated with the latest topics from TIWWA Millennium Message Board (our forums), the latest news articles from our main website M-TIWWA and latest news from the BacktoFrankBlack.com campaign.
    • Options to smoothly open and close the various parts of the page depending upon your personal preference.
    • Integration with Millennium - Thisiswhoweare.net - Search our main website and if you prefer you can narrow your search parameters to episode transcripts, profiles (episode, cast, crew and character), our Music Guide, articles, reviews and more.
    • Rest assured, all internet searches via the Google Search function are private and are not logged, stored or accessible by us. Please follow the Privacy link at the bottom of the page for more details.

Your settings to personalise the page are stored in cookies on your local computer for 31 days (due to increase shortly), so its personalised every time you open your homepage unless the cookies are removed or expire. However you can change the options as many times as you like.

Unless you personalise the page, the welcome message is set to Frank (Black) and the days remaining currently match M-TIWWA, which is the amount of days remaining to the popular December 12, 2012 (the often quoted and supposed end of the Mayan calendar).

As the page has a permanent link, we are able to update the page with improvements without the need for users to download new versions. Simply bookmark the page or set it as your browser's homepage.

Whether you use it for fun at home, college or work, or find it genuinely useful, the new Millennium Group is ready to be bookmarked and can be found permanently at https://millennium-thisiswhoweare.net/millennium-group-network

I'm pleased to announce that we have now added Youtube video's to our Millennium Music Guide, courtesy of Youtube's API. You can now instantly watch videos and listen to many of the songs and music profiled in our Music Guide, some of which include live versions. Examples include Patti Smith's Dancing Barefoot, America's A Horse with no Name and of course Love is Blue!

Not every song is available and videos will change given the frequent updates people make to Youtube. In many cases, HD versions of the videos exist for improved quality.

Its taken a long time to populate the Millennium Music Guide with the best combination of keywords through trial and error, I hope you find it useful and that the feature enhances your use of our music guide to Millennium.

You may already be familiar with our *Millennium Episode Locations Map, upon which we've plotted on top of satellite maps all of the main locations mentioned throughout the 3 seasons of Millennium. I like to keep the map updated when Google adds new features to their Google Maps API, so now you'll find the improved map controls and a useful Search Bar at the bottom left of the page from where you can search locations and get directions, ideal if you are planning a tour. Just click on the magnifying glass and the search box will slide out. I've added the same features to our forum's Member Map, which has the further addition of Google's somewhat controversial but extremely cool and useful Street View facility.

What's this got to do with Frank's Yellow House I hear you ask? Well whilst I was busy making these changes, I happened to check the similar Live Maps (Microsoft's mapping facility), and found it now contains 'Birds Eye View' images of the famous Black Family yellow house, long since painted white.

You can find these much more detailed aerial shots here, don't forget to zoom in and out and rotate the view around to get a different perspective.

    * Broken link now repaired.

The Grassy Knoll has published the first 1 hour part of a fascinating 3 hour interview with film and tv critic John Muir in which they discuss Chris Carter's Millennium television series.

This is a great interview, not to be missed, its full of interesting viewpoints on the many aspects of Millennium with some serious analysis of the finer points of Millennium, its symbolism, Lance Henriksen's incredible portrayal of criminal profiler and family man Frank Black, Lucy Butler and in depth analysis of some of the finer Season 1 episodes and the statements on society in the run up to the actual Millennium that they made.

Part 2 of the interview will apparently focus on Season 2 of the series and will be available on April 27. John Muir is a series fan and analyst of Millennium and has been an active supporter of BackToFrankBlack.com, the campaign headquarters working towards exposing the support for a Millennium feature film.

The interview is fun to listen too and despite its length, Grassy Knoll's Vyzogoth and John drive it along keeping you interested and if you like Millennium, its simply not to be missed.

Earlier this week we published the first in what will hopefully become a series of Millennium themed gadgets for Windows Vista. All versions of Windows Vista feature a Sidebar facility which allows small programs (gadgets, sometimes known as widgets) to run (or be dragged onto the desktop). As far as we know this is the first available gadget for Vista inspired by Chris Carter's Millennium TV series.

MLM Ouroborus Countdown is gadget which you can install on Windows Vista's Sidebar, or simply drag and drop it from your sidebar to your desktop. The gadget resembles the familiar Millennium Group welcome log-in screen as seen in the television series and used by Millennium Group members. It features a golden Ouroborus and automatically displays your name and the number of days remaining. Rather than simply displaying the message, "Welcome Frank", the gadget is more personalised and instead displays the name of the current Windows Vista user.

NB. The Gadget uses a Windows system value to determine the user's name that comes from the name of the User's folder, that contains their application settings, My Pictures Documents etc. Unfortunately, some computers have Windows pre-installed with a generic user name like User or Owner, instead of it asking for your own personal name when you use the computer for the first time. There isn't much you can do about that for now until the next release of the gadgets which allows full name customisation.

    MLM Ouroborus Countdown v1.0 features:

    • Millennium Group Ouroborus
    • Personalised - Automatically welcomes the current logged in user!
    • Countdown - Displays the current number of days until December 21st, 2012 (the forthcoming Apocalypse?).
    • Easily customisable countdown date (see instructions).
    • Site Link - Clicking the Ouroborus takes you to our main website at millennium-thisiswhoweare.net
    • Drag and drop from your sidebar to your desktop

We hope you enjoy this creation and we look forward to bringing you a series of gadgets featuring your favourite characters from Millennium.

Visit the Millennium inspired Windows Vista Sidebar Gadgets category in our forum's download manger to find the first Millennium gadget.
Guests (non-registered forum members) are welcome to download the gadget but registered members can rate and add comments to the downloads as well as having access to additional downloads and forums.

UK television channel Zone Horror have changed the air date for their première of Chris Carter's Millennium television series from tomorrow (October 4th) to next Monday (the 6th) and instead will be screening the first 3 episodes back to back, Pilot, Gehenna and Dead Letters.

Zone Horror would appear to be following the traditional air date order of episodes which is also how they are presented on the DVD release. If you are interested in learning more about the varying episode order of Millennium, you can find out more here in our Episode Order Guide.

As well as a recent interview with writer Frank Spotnitz, Zone Horror have also added a new Millennium feature summary to their website entitled, "I see what the killer sees - Millennium on Zone Horror".

Zone Horror currently broadcast on Sky Digital Channel 319, Virgin TV Channel 170 and Freesat Channel 138. Zone Horror is currently available as a free-to-air service on Eurobird 1 and is part of Virgin Media's XL package. Its also believed the channel will soon be launched in Poland.
