  1. Hi All,

Been waaaaay too long between visits to this site but last night I watched "Untraceable" on DVD and like all of the above posts the similarities are there.

I did think that there may have been a tip of the hat to MLM however as the main character lives in a house that is remarkably like the Yellow house.

It is certainly shot in the same dark tones as MLM.

  2. Mind sharing its source (be it psd or whatever)? I'd like to add it to my rotation, but the resolution's limiting.

Just checked my archive and I no longer have the psd file anymore.

If it helps the font that I used to create the text is Batik Regular.ttf and is in the download section of this site.

  3. Hi Benjamin,

Welcome from another Australian who also came late to MM via the DVD’s. This is a great discussion forum and although I have been an infrequent visitor of late due to work and some personal issues there are some great discussions to get involved in.

  6. Well, I'm not sure I can try this out.....even with the other link for non Vista users. I just checked, & I don't think Terry has IE on this computer. It's just Netscape, and the FireFox I downloaded to make TIWWA run better.

    Erin,

If your computer is running a form of windows operating system IE will probably be in there even if you don't normally use it. As it comes packaged with Windows.

    Hope it works for you.

  7. Hi StuartW, I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of replying to a message of yours so I shall relish this maiden voyage and hope you will stay around for the cruise.

There's something of a nostalgic element in wondering if Peter is persuing an agenda contrary to the Group's mandate but although I would dearly love to agree, his reason for his manipulation of Hollis and the general scenario form part of a wider picture that is subsequently exposed in episodes to come. Sensitive as I am I shall not discuss this further as I know some of us have yet to taste their forbidden fruit except to add that Peter is guiding Emma and Frank as an arch manipulator here rather than a renegade element. It is clear to me why certain elements of the original script were deleted as this would tempt us to believe otherwise and would form something of an argument to be had when forthcoming episodes established their continuity.

Ethsnafu the "nostalgic element" I think is probably what has driven my observation and question.

That and the fact that I guess I have never felt that I have been that comfortable with the enigmatic handling of the character of Watts from season 1 & 2.

    Thanks for your comments.

  8. Is there anyone here who can tell me if it's TRUE that not all guns leave gun powder residue on the hands of those who fire them, and if so, what guns these are?

    Hi Erin,

There is an Australian Science writer and scholar who wrote a short article on GSR, here is an excerpt.

The process of generating GSR begins in the barrel of the gun, when you pull the trigger, and the firing pin smashes into the primer at the blunt end of the bullet. The primer usually has three chemicals in it - the initiator which goes bang from the impact (lead styphnate), the fuel (antimony sulphide) and the oxidizer (barium nitrate). The primer then ignites the much bigger main charge of explosive. The main charge then turns into gas, which comes out of the back end of the cartridge, so pushing the lead bullet in the opposite direction. It's a simple and very dangerous application of Chemistry and Newton's Laws of Motion.

The very high temperatures and pressures turn the lead antimony and barium into a gas that condenses into tiny, invisible spheres. They range in size from 0.5 to 10 microns (a micron is a millionth of a metre, and a human hair is about 70 microns thick). Some of these tiny spheres are solid and can fall out of the air in just 90 seconds, while others are hollow and take up to eight minutes to land.

So the first problem with the GSR technique is that a shooter can fire a gun and immediately rush out of the room, so not getting any GSR on them. But an innocent bystander, coming to investigate the incident anywhere within the next eight minutes, could have lots of GSR landing on them.

The second problem is that of "cross contamination". GSR is like talcum powder, and is easily shaken or washed off the hands of the guilty party. In fact, sweat is enough to wash it off - so it moves around easily. GSR is found in most American police cars, police stations and investigation rooms. It's incredibly easy for an innocent person to brush up against a contaminated surface and transfer some GSR on to themselves.

    Full article found here https://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/s1878536.htm

So looks like it is not as reliable as one may think.

    Hope this helps.

  9. What an amazingly insightful thread. Thank you all for the in depth coverage of what I had thought was a somewhat disjointed episode I had made some of the connections but only a few. :notworthy: Now I will be re-watching it with a renewed interest and appreciation.

I must say on a preferential note that I would like to believe that Watts was questioning the MG. Originally his character was a “true believer” but as time had passed and through his experiences with Frank elements of his faith had been tested and questions raised. I can relate to that charater trait I guess.

I would have loved to know, had the series continued, if Watts would have held to his true beliefs, those things that attracted him to the MG originally and worked within the MG to change their direction back to those beliefs or bailed out altogether?

Watts the catalyst to get Frank into the Group then Frank the catalyst to get Watts out of the Group?

  10. From what I've read over the years, it went further than Philip wanting to rid himself of the Templars; he wanted their amassed fortune that was hidden away for financing their activities. A lot of sources estimate the Templar fortune as exceeding the Vatican hoard at the time.

I've not found any good web sources for the Templars. Most get off the Templar history into the various theories about what happened to the Templar fortune, how connected are the modern Masons to the Templars and such other more modern affairs. There are, however, a wealth of books that go into significant detail on the Templars even though they too tend to connect the Templar era to later events and organizations. One I found immensely readable was called "Born in Blood" (don't remember the author); it was written around 30 years ago by an older academian that had spent a lot of his career studying various records about the Templars.

I have read extensively on the Templars and can endorse Southern Celt's recommendation "Born in Blood" is by John J Robinson and is an excellent resource for further details on the Templars. King Philip of France also called Philip the Fair (Not because he was a fair king but because of his light colour) had been given protection by the Templars and while being housed in their protection realised the great wealth that they possessed. Then greed overtook any gratitude he may of had and when he was in financial trouble, he even devalued the coinage of France to help him prop up his reign, he planned how he could get his hands on their wealth. As they say the rest is history.

MLM Browser intends to provide fans of the show MillenniuM with a browser interface in

    the theme of the show.

MLM Browser is effectively a skin for Internet Explorer that adopts the theme of the TV series

MillenniuM and allows the user to browse the web.

The programme should work under the Vista version of Windows. It has been tested with

Win Vista successfully. If you run Win XP (SP2) or earlier download the XP version

which has a setup file to install the program automaticly. This setup program did cause

a problem with Vista hence the two versions.

If you prefer to do the manual instal this version will work with the earlier versions of Win also.

    How safe is MLM Browser?

It is as safe as your version of Internet Explorer.

How do you install MLM Browser?

Simply copy the files contained in the Zip file to a directory of choice and create a shortcut of

MLMBrowser.exe to on your desktop for ease of use.

Please see the readme and FAQ files supplied for further information or contact me through TIWWA.

Thanks to Graham (The Old Man) for testing the earlier versions.

    Enjoy.

  13. Last night, I watched "Siren", which also was very "telling" as to his state of mind. At the end, he states "This woman came here to tempt me with answers to questions I've had about my life. And I did not realize until now..... that she didn't have the answers!"

I'm going to be putting together a lot of points like this in Frank's journey, as his journey speaks so personally to me. This is actually WHY I started this discussion. After my friend died, and I found Millennium in the middle of the night... (which she'd told me to watch) one of the first ones I saw... near the beginning... was the 2 parter, Lamentations, and PPT&D. Frank's dealing with the death of Bob.... the things he said, and that were said TO him, spoke to me so personally.

It is interesting how things speak to us at certain period of our life. Without sounding too "new age" there is a sense that the universe answers the questions we ask or a least helps us find those answers.

I have found this in lyrics of songs and in quality Sci Fi or Fiction so often that it just can't be coincidence.

The one thing that has made these experiences real is that fact that after getting a little taste of something if I decide to go with it and explore it more the reward is well worth the effort.

Luminary for me was such an episode and I did some further research into the journey of Petrarch on the Ascent of Mount Ventoux which enriched not only my own understanding but also others that I discussed these revelations with.

All this from watching an episode of MLM :ouro:

  14. In Australia we are just starting the new Series 3 so I will keep an eye out.

Have been a fan of The Doctor for soooooo long and its good to see him back.

Also think Torchwood (the Dr Who spinoff) which has started here about 6 weeks ago is great as well a little darker and more adult concepts makes for some good viewing.
