EDITED TO ADD- This season 1 jacket (and the jacket worn in the final 2 episodes) is confirmed as having been an EDDIE BAUER brand jacket circa 1997. I'm starting this thread to chart the progress of a project that I'm working on. I have begun looking into sourcing the materials to replicate Franks famous greyish green cargo jacket. I know a guy who makes custom jackets & clothing so I'm checking with him on the possibility & cost of replicating this (to me) iconic jacket. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. Nailing the color will be difficult as what we're seeing is on film. The tone and saturation of the jacket changes from scene to scene, changes with the light etc. In some scenes it appears solid gray, in others it appears olive green. I'm looking into a "sage" or "moss" color to best approximate the various shades we see on film. I've found a great brushed poly/cotton twill that very closely resembles the weave and texture of his jacket. I have also found the correct YKK die cast wire zipper sliders that are on his jacket. This is the jacket I'm talking about- P.S. I bought a Jeep Cherokee today!! It's not red but beggars can't be choosers.

Frank Black Style Jacket
WilliamSchindler posted a gallery image in Millennium Official Collectables
My Frank-Style Jacket just arrived. I just have to make it a little smaller on the waist and maybe add a leather patch to the zipper on the breast-pocket. Not bad hu? Its no Eddie Bauer of course, but im glad to have found a similar one. The collar is dark brown and not as muddy as it looks in the picture 😉- 5 comments

I am new here, but I've been a fan since the show's original appearance. I have been active on The X-File forums for years, figured I might as well join this one, too. I don't know if this topic has been mentioned before, 30+ pages to read through is a lot! Frank's Coat: Especially during the first two seasons, Frank is almost always seen wearing a coat, usually that drab greenish one. Whenever we see him without it, was when he was usually at home, or with his family. What a great metaphor for how Frank tried to shield himself from the darkness that he had to deal with, and how he'd never let his guard down. Only opening himself to be friendly to Catherine and Jordan. I think the same thing can be said about Frank's smile. It is incredibly rare that he would ever smile, except when he was in the Yellow House. Very smart thinking from the writers, and probably from Lance, also.
