This was very upsetting to read. There are some very sick people out there that seem to go undetected through life until they choose to strike.

This is indeed very milleniumistic. One wonders how a man gets this far to do such a thing. I live in Belgium and it was all over the news here. So I guess over in the states it is really a big thing. Was it an act of revenge over the Amish people or was the guy just insane?

It is.... beyond words for me.

Pennsylvania is where Terry is from, and, in the short time I was there, I grew to love that state The Amish were one of the reasons why .... I cannot begin to say how deeply this hits me. (that state feels like home for me. the only home I've ever known)

The loss of lives is senseless. I have to think there could have been a better way than storming the place. You've got a guy who's obviously suicidal, armed and dangerous. I cannot imagine a WORSE idea than just rushing in there like that. I think the right person could have talked him down. At most, he would have just killed himself...which is still a tragendy, but he was obviously in such pain that that's the only relief he could find.

maybe the newswires i have been reading are inaccurate, but from what i understand, chronogically speaking, police showed up at the school 9 minutes after the first 911 call. Immediately upon their arrival, and within minutes of positioning themselves, shots were heard from inside the school. The police had yet to advance on the school and were surprised at how quickly the gunman began firing. As the police began to gain access is when he shot himself...what is far more frightening than whether or not the police departments actions were appropriate, is the fact that this is the THIRD attack on a school in the last week..
