Guest millennium-collections
OK, I'm not one usually who endorses films, but this one is an exception. Be prepared however, it's not the usual Hollywood fare. From Hong Kong (yes Hong Kong) comes a film from the Pang brothers called "The Eye". Last week while looking for something good at my local video store, I overheard a young man requesting a foreign film called "The Eye". He got the only copy and I promised myself that I would see it soon. The premise sounded interesting, and I finally obtained a copy tonight. First let me warn you that this is a Foreign film and that you will have to do some reading. The dialogue is in Cantonese, but English subtitles are availible. I will give no spoilers here, but I will tell you that the plot is very imaginative, and that nearly all of it was inspired by real events. There are no fantastical CGI special effects (that I know of) and the directors rely on mostly "old school" effects and cinematography to scare the pants off you. The Pang brothers manage to pull off a truly scary movie here with an ending that will blow your socks off after you think the movie had ended. Maybe I have said too much....whoops If you are an adventurous film buff, I say "see it". There is a reason I'm up at 1:00am in the morning, and this movie is the reason. It really messed with my head, and it's worth a look. Matt
voidprime
I watched THE EYE and liked it, but I love DOUBLE VISION (a film from Taiwan) which is better than THE EYE. The problem I have with THE EYE is the first half is too slow before the story finally decides to kick into gear. Be Seeing You, David Blackwell P.S. I have reviews of DOUBLE VISION and THE EYE at my ENTERLINE MEDIA site. "Don't tug on that, you never know what it might be attached to. "- Buckaroo Banzai "There are no answers- only choices."
