From todays News Update at MillenniuM Desktop UK:

...It was with interest then that apart from spotting that they had miss spelt Lance Henriksen's name, I also noticed the unique graphic design box illustration for the REGION 1 USA Version of Alien Quadrilogy DVD Box Set, being a Alien/Ouroboros hybrid, the Ouroboros being instantly recognisable to MillenniuM fans as the mythological symbol of The MillenniuM Group. Why and how this image came to be is unknown, but it cannot be ignored that Disk 3 of the set contains the movie "Aliens" complete with a Commentary by Lance Henriksen amongst other actors and production crew. Perhaps the graphic designer is a fan of MillenniuM and Lance Henriksen? The UK Region 2 Version contains a different illustration and possibly no Commentary although it is still 9 discs.

Hey...you're right...the UK release of Quadrilogy

doesn't have the cool design....bummer.  I hope

they don't screw up the actual material on the

discs.

Why does Fox think they have to be so clever

when it comes to global marketing?  Who asks them

to do all this tinkering?

I never understood why the UK releases of the

X-Files (the two part eps.) were slammed together

to make a "feature" film.

It is a  cool design for the DVD case even though I hate the fold-out case format.  they should have just did 5 DVD slipcases with 9 DVDs.  Lots of cool extras it looks like on that DVD set.   I want it.

....just curious why you don't gatefolds? i think they are pretty cool, especially the highlander ones and,of course, the incredible work of art that is the "BAND OF BROTHERS" packaging. -(though if there is a lot of discs i suppose it can get a bit cumbersome, but i still like the look of them when they are creatively done)

Gatefolds are a pain in the ass.  They suck.   If you have a cracked case, you have to replace the only thing or just bear it.   If you break the gatefold at a fold, you have to buy a new gatefold set.   DVDs are sometimes hard to get out of DVD cases and sometimes they fall out too easily.   Also it will be a pain folding out 9 DVD discs for the Alien Quad. set.    I like regular DVD cases because you can replace the slip case if you break the case or if the case is damaged where it is a pain if a gatefold gets damaged.   Finally, it is easier to deal with gettinga DVD out in a normal case instead of the extra effort one goes through on a gatefold to get at a certain DVD.

  • 2 weeks later...

has anyone bought the Alien Quadrilogy set?    Is anyone going to buy it?  I have entered of contests in an attempt to win it (and I also entered at least 10 contests on seperate websites to win a copy of the FIREFLY: THE COMPLETE SERIES DVD set).
