Carter wrote the lyrics to the PM Dawn song on Songs in the Key of X and I've had this album for a long time but never actaully read all the lyrics. They're pretty interesting...

"If You Never Say Goodbye"

Legs of a cat,

The head of a man.

Eyes are a camera

Shaking everyone's hand.

Vultures circle

And smack their lips,

Sky goes black

As the lightning rips.

Stars are new,

The moon without pity,

As waves of blood

Roll over the city.

It's not a rehearsal

Or special effects,

It's the end of a story,

It's what happens next.

And I say, and I say

It's coming in a second.

And I say, and I say,

In the blink of an eye.

And I say, and I say

With a bang and a whimper,

And I say it's okay

If you never say goodbye.

Son of a child,

Sign of a beast

As it slouches and slithers

Its way from the feast.

I dreamt a dream

But what can it mean?

Angels, ignored,

Devoured the queen.

All the people danced

And tore at their clothes,

The sky was on fire

And the oceans froze.

It wasn't a fable,

It wasn't a hoax,

With serpentine devils

Speaking of jokes.

And I say, and I say

It's coming in a second.

And I say, and I say,

In the blink of an eye.

And I say, and I say

With a bang and a whimper,

And I say it's okay

If you never say goodbye.

I saw a chapel

Made of gold,

The light was so blue

And the air was so cold.

Talented hound

On a microphone,

As the rats were given

A chicken bone.

People wept

And swallowed their jewels,

Entered like soldiers,

Departing as fools.

It isn't a sentence,

It's not a reward,

It's a black parachute

With a noose for a cord.

And I say, and I say

It's coming in a second.

And I say, and I say,

In the blink of an eye.

And I say, and I say

With a bang and a whimper,

And I say it's okay

If you never say goodbye.

And I say it's okay

If you never say goodbye.

(Repeat)

I never knew that he wrote the lyrics to that song.  And now that I've read them, I see that they make no sense.  Wow.  For senseless lyrics, they're not bad, I guess.  I like the song itself.  I think it's the context of the song in its sound overall that makes it worth anything, though... if I just read those lyrics, I'd be like, "What the crap?  Who wrote this garbage?"  Of course, I'm known here as "the girl who hates everything, so if she likes it, you know it's good"  :grin2:

I've heard that song before.  Not a bad song.  Recorded several songs from that CDwhen I borrowed it from a friend years ago.

BEER----> Another little tid bit about CC. I went to see a surfing movie (beach kind)called 'Step Into Liquid'andsaw Chris interviewed within the film. I was kind of shocked to see him there. Didn't realize he was a surfer too.

Ohhh yeah, Chris is a *huge* surf fanatic.  He used to edit Surf Magazine, back in the day.  He'd often, in the summer hiatus, take a couple of weeks and travel somewhere to go surfing before he had to be back on the 1013 campus to start writing again.

Yeah, "Songs in the Key of X" is a great CD.  I own all of the XF soundtracks, so I know all of the songs on all of them, and there are only a couple of songs on them I don't care for so much.  They introduced me to so many great musicians I probably wouldn't have heard of or at least paid much attention to otherwise.

I like the Sheryl crow song on that soundtrack and I know one of the XF movie soundtracks has an explaination of the X-Files aliens/conspiracy arcs as the last track on the CD.

Yeah, if you wait after the last song on the FTF Var. Artists soundtrack until the counter gets to 10:13, then Chris Carter's voice comes on, and he uses a whole lot of big words to explain the whole alien thing.  And yeah, I like that Sheryl Crow song, too.  I used to listen to it all the time whenever I'd get depressed, but then I got over it b\c it just made me feel a thousand times worse.

Actually I still like to listen to that Sheryl Crow song.  I may not care for her first album (I think every Sheryl Crow album (after the first album) are better than the first album (which was meh)).
