Guest LauraKrycek
My mom bought me a lot of movies today, and it made me think about something. We all talk about MM all the time, about things that are related to the show, etc... but what things does everyone like that has *nothing* MM-esque about it whatsoever? For instance, these are the movies my mom just bought me (a late birthday present, she said, since the store she ordered "Neverending Story" from for me decided to go out of business instead ): Remains of the Day Sense and Sensibility On The Town An American in Paris Singing in the Rain Brigadoon (never actually seen it, but it's starring Gene Kelly, so it *must* be good) And some of my other favorites: The Winter Guest The Princess Bride The Joy Luck Club Wide Awake Truly Madly Deeply Edward Scissorhands So, why don't we start with movies? Those are most of my big favorites. What are some of everyone else's favorite movies that totally have nothing to do with "Millennium" (or do, if it's just one of your tops)? Guest LauraKrycek
Blade Runner Blue Aliens Forbidden Planet Amelie Heat The Crimson Rivers Underworld and on it goes... Well, I haven't seen a single one of those... unless, of course, "Blue" is supposed to be followed by " 's Clues"... What can I say, I'm the resident Steve Burns fan Other than "Amelie", though, I can say that those definitely aren't my type of movies. As you can probably tell from my list... anyway. voidprime
Blue is the first movie in the Three Colors trilogy (Blue, White, and Red). Blue is a French movie. It's a very poignant movie abouta woman who loses her husband and duaghter ina car crash, and she starts her life over again while trying to leave behind all connections to her life before the accident behind. The Crimson Rivers is a cool French crime thriller starring Jean Reno. Heat is one of the most kick-ass cops-robbers movie ever done. Blade Runner is a classic sci-fi movie that has spawned books and web sites aroudn it (and a book of essays). Underworld stars Kate Beckinsale as vampire who kills werewolves (her Underworld pic is in my avatar picture). Amelie is a charming French movie (I can't watch this one many times) about a young woman who decides to help other people without them knowing she is a do-gooder trying to change their lives for the better. Guest SouthernCelt
... but what things does everyone like that has *nothing* MM-esque about it whatsoever? There's no way I could list all my favorite movies; there are a lot that I don't have on DVD or VHS and can't watch when I want. Of those I do have in DVD or VHS (or both in some cases) are (in the order they came to mind): Aliens Road Warrior (I've got all three Mad Max but this is my favorite) Gettysburg Gods and Generals Gone With the Wind Outlaw Josey Wales The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly The Searchers John Carpenter's The Thing Escape from New York Legends of the Fall Rio Bravo Saving Private Ryan We Were Soldiers Field of Dreams The Postman The Terminator Series Hasta la vista, baby! Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted January 4, 2004 Elders (Admins) Share Posted January 4, 2004 Sweet Jesus! How the hell do you recall them all like that? That's 50 movies for Christ's sake? I love movies but I'd be damned if I could remember all those in one sitting! Graham. Guest WaveCrest
The Old Man, It is quite difficult when you are making some favourite lists, to narrow them down!! I can name a list of my favourite X Files episodes but I know some people can find it difficult to think of a shortlist as there are that many good ones!! These are mine what I can think of now: Dances With Wolves Halloween (1978) Airplane! The Naked Gun series (1988-94) The James Bond films (1962- ) The Hot Shots films (the second one Part Deux edges it) The Dollars trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More & my favourite The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) Heat (special 2-disc set coming out later this year in the UK) & Mulholland Drive. Guest LauraKrycek
All of se7en and WaveCrest's movies I either also love or haven't seen. Mostly just haven't seen, though. Good choices! Carry on.
