voidprime
I hope Michael Mann releases a longer director's cut of Heat with cut footage (he offered to put some new scenes in for NBC for a 3 hour cut, but NBC refused and cut some scenes out of the movie for TV broadcast. Also it would be neat to include the TV movie (that Michael Mann directed) that Heat is a remake of called L.A. Takedown. Guest se7en
Sweet Jesus! How the hell do you recall them all like that? That's 50 movies for Christ's sake? I love movies but I'd be damned if I could remember all those in one sitting! Graham. ....THAT'S OKAY I HAD TO GO BACK AND ADD 10 MORE BECAUSE IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY! ....i've always loved movies but was never a cinematic buff until after the disability, and especially when i got my first laserdisc player in 1995! when i got that laserdisc player and was introduced to the world of "special additions" and audio comentaries and box sets i became hooked like someone on crack. home theater and my movie/dvd/laserdisc collection have been an obsession ever since. .....as far as how i remember the years and such? well,i have essentially No short term memory but my long term memory is freakish at times. whether anyone beleives this or not i can remember certain events, that my mother confirmed, when i was 3/4-years old and we were, unfortunately, living in florida for a year or so. ...anyway my passions,post-accident are: BOOKS/MOVIES/MUSIC/NATURE/PHOTOGRAPHY-(once again since we moved to VERMONT) maybe i should horrify the members and snap a picture of my dvd-display rack/wall-lol! ~PEACE, se7en

Guest SouthernCelt
27)-"THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALLANCE",1963-(can you tell i love THE DUKE? LOL) se7en Hey, se7en, glad to see there's another Duke fan out there. I only listed a couple of my favorites with the Duke but there's not many of his I don't like. I've got a whole bunch of his on VHS but only The Searchers and Rio Bravo on DVD. There are several that I don't have in any form but would love to get, including "Stagecoach," "The High and the Mighty," and "Island in the Sky." Maybe we need to start a John Wayne message board. voidprime
I like John Wayne movies, but I could have done without seeing the horror of the movie Jet Pilot. I had to make fun of Jet Pilot while I watched it. Why did John Wayne do that movie? Why?! Erin, which version of Dances With wolves do you have? The original theater version on VHS or DVD, or the 4 hour director's cut which came out on DVD in 2003? Be Seeing You, David Blackwell

THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALLANCE,1963-(one of the best b/w anamorphic transfers i have seen so far.ALSO SOME PRETTY GOOD EXTRAS AS WELL.) ...strangely enough i don't have stagecoach either, and the only war movies i have by him are "THEY WERE EXPENDABLE","THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA" and "THE GREEN BERETS". ...BOTH my father and grandfather were/are big Duke fans so i was sort of raised on them in a way, especially the mid-70's time period. my Gramps, god bless em,is almost exactly 12-years younger then John Wayne. ...a John Wayne message board.... ~se7en

There's so much comedy in it, it's very different from a lot of his westerns. Of course the basic story is a re-write of Rio Bravo with a few changes in the character relationships. My boys liked El Dorado so much when they were young that they memorized a lot of the dialogue. As to the war movies, I've got Green Berets, Flying Tigers, Sands of Iwo Jima, and Fighting Seabees. As far as Jet Pilot goes, I think that's one I've missed. I may have seen it way back when I was a kid but I don't remember. One that I put in the category that you put Jet Pilot is The Conqueror, JW's Genghis Khan movie. I've seen it once on TV and thought it was really bad since none of the Caucasian actors quite looked the part of a Mongol. Another one I'd like to get a copy of is Blood Alley. I know it's been shown on TV in the past but I've never seen a video listed for it in any catalogs.
Guest WaveCrest
Voidprime, I know I'm not Erin but the version I've got of Dances With Wolves is the Director's Cut, or the "Specially Extended Widescreen Version" as it says on the front cover of the video version I've got of it. That came out in the UK in 1992. When this version (3 hours 45 minutes) came out on Region 1 DVD last year I was hoping it would be coming out over here in the UK. But I've read nothing yet.
