I like John Wayne movies, but I could have done without seeing the horror of the movie Jet Pilot.  I had to make fun of Jet Pilot while I watched it.  Why did John Wayne do that movie?  Why?!

Erin, which version of Dances With wolves do you have?  The original theater version on VHS or DVD, or the 4 hour director's cut which came out on DVD in 2003?

David (voidprime),

Saddly, all I have right now is the over-edited version that my parents got me for Christmas back in 1992. (It's the thought that counts, though, right?) I've seen the fabulous extended version on (I think it was) HBO. But that was in 1992, when I was in the hospital, after my car wreck. (I used to drive the nurses nuts, talking in Native American (Siox? is that close to the right spelling?))

It's on my list of "Must haves", now that I have a DVD player!

nuno, which version of Get Carter? I prefer the origianl with Michael Caine (downright brutal and never cops out)- it's one of my favorite movie with Michael caine in the same league with the original version of The Italian Job and the Harry Palmer movies (except Billion Dollar Brain which I have never seen).

let me guess, nuno, I can take a guess that Once Upon A Time In Mexico will also go to your favorite movies list.

Excellent choices on LOTR and anything including Johnny Depp. However, Steven Seagal?!? WTF?!?

I partyly agree on Steven Seagal movies because the last two were really big pieces of crap. Can we now stand the misery of Steven Seagal playing Genghis Khan if he ever gets the chance to?! :devil01::alien:

There's no way I could list all my favorite movies; there are a lot that I don't have on DVD or VHS and can't watch when I want. Of those I do have in DVD or VHS (or both in some cases) are (in the order they came to mind):

Aliens

Road Warrior (I've got all three Mad Max but this is my favorite)

Gettysburg

Gods and Generals

Gone With the Wind

Outlaw Josey Wales

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Searchers

John Carpenter's The Thing

Escape from New York

Legends of the Fall

Rio Bravo

Saving Private Ryan

We Were Soldiers

Field of Dreams

The Postman

The Terminator Series

Hasta la vista, baby!

:wink_big:

Yet another nice thread I thought I would resurrect. It was interesting reading some of the favorite movies by memebers that are not necessarily Millenniumistic. I quoted the above message because it had many that I would include on my list, such as "Field of Dreams", "Aliens" and "The Road Warrior". By the way, The Road Warrior is by far my favorite of the Mad Max films as well. OK, off the top of my head, here are a few that I find myself watching frequently and stopping for if channel surfing. They are in no particular order.

Manhunter(Recently discussed)

Aliens (see first)

Mothman Prophesies

Seven

Crimson Tide

Thin Red Line

Courage Under Fire

Full Metal Jacket

When Trumpets Fade

Shawshank Redemption

Deloris Claiborne

Sexy Beast

Fargo

The Keep

Nobody's Fool (Paul Newman)

The Verdict (Paul Newman)

Lost Souls

Eye of the Beholder (Ewen McGregor)

Blair Witch 1 and 2

Arizona Dream

THX 1138

The Addiction (Christopher Walkin)

I Shot Andy Warhol (Lili Taylor)

Alien

Jaws

Halloween 1

Romeo Is Bleeding (Gary Oldman)

The Abyss

Glengary Glenn Ross

Copy Cat

Outland (Sean Connery)

Highlander
