I have two DVD players. I guess that means I buy two sets. One for upstairs and one for downstairs. I probably give them as Xmas gifts as well. :smily_tooth_big:

Even though I've just recently splashed out on Seven&one's great set (it arrived the same day as i heard the news from pete staddon!), i'll still sell a limb or organ to get the official release.

ms. krycek is right though, a student budget barely accommadates food, never mind -probably- expensive dvd sets. If you cant afford it , you cant afford it!

anyway, could someone advise me whether to buy the american version straight off, or hang around for the european (im in ireland).

please dont say both!

Um, I plan on buying one, but there's no need to be so rude about it.  I'm sure everyone here plans on getting it.  But seriously... I get paid $4 an hour.  Half of that gets taken away automatically every month to go towards my term bill, which will probably be about $800 for the spring term.  And we're only allowed to do 140 hours every semester, no more, no less.  You do the math, then add in necessities like groceries and toothpaste.  Not good.

Not saying I won't get it, because I will as soon as I am able; I just thought that your delivery was pretty rude, because just because I have a computer and get online a lot doesn't mean I can afford to do so.  My school paid for my computer, and I'm on both academic and financial scholarships to cover most of my school bills.  I think it was the line about the dog that did it, though, because my dog is really really sick and we think he has a huge tumor in his side because he's all misshapen, but we can't even f***ing afford to take him to the vet to see what's the matter with him, because not even my parents can afford to take *themselves* to a doctor, let alone insurance.  I'm sorry, but I'm really stressed and really tired and have had an absolutely dash-your-own-brains-out horrible day, and as much as I love MM, real life comes into play when I read stuff like that.

Clicking "post", despite my own sensibilities...

Wow, I'm sorry if I upset you. When I was typing that post I was laughing and just joking around. The obvious point I was making was that we needed to support the release. And I was just doing it in a joking way. Obviously if you are going to school and have no money, then no one faults you for not buying it. And certainly if there are medical bills Millennium dvd's aren't even on the radar. I was just trying to make a point that if people started saving money now, then they would have money when the DVD set came out. If you put away $10 a month from now on you should have enough for the set. Not saying that you would be able to do that, just saying for people in general. Sorry about your dog, I was just joking around and being silly. If I knew anyone's dog was sick I wouldn't have made the comment. Anyway sorry that I came off as rude. I guess i'm not good at conveying emotion over the internet, but I was just trying to be semi-funny and just make a point that we needed to support the release, with extra chores/jobs if necessary.

Sorry, but there will not be a cheap version and a collector's edition.  TV to DVD set are usually one version since they cost so much anyway comapred to a single movie on DVD release. I think many DVD Collector's would be pissed if two editions of a TV on DVD set was offered.

Be Seeing you,

David Blackwell

Well, my experience in buying TV series on DVD is limited, but I do know the versions differ from region to region at least. I have bought Buffy and Angel from the US, a much cheaper and somewhat worse version than the ones that can be bought here in Europe. Maybe that's just different from region to region or country then, that's possible.

At any rate, I bought the cheaper US version simply because there are som many seasons of Buffy to buy, it would be too expensive to go for a version that costs twice as much. That won't be a problem with MM though, with its three seasons, I can buy the most costsome and flashy version.

Pencil Machine Operator, I for one will be waiting for a European version, just to see which one looks better. If there'll even be a difference.

Oh I'll be getting it on the day it comes out! That is if it isn't cheaper online. If so it may be around the day it comes out.

So in the next few months FOX Entertainment will be planning everything associated with getting Season 1 ready for a DVD release later this year - extras, packaging, marketing - that sort of thing? I know the answer is obvious and yes, they won't start on it properly until Season 9 of "The X Files" is done.

I want one set please. Hold the bag. Just give me the receipt so I can go home and watch it. Better yet - I brought my laptop and I'll watch it on the way home. :grin2:

Icubud: Just wanted to reply to say I love your response! Exactly my feeling (well, except for the laptop as I haven't got one, and anyway I'm not sure watching an MM DVD while walking home is a good idea) :;):

It's a bit of a worry whether to buy the US version DVDs as soon as they are available. At this stage there's no guarantee that it'll be released for other regions. And what's the betting that if we wait to see if a Region 2 version will be made, then find out it isn't, we'll then find out that all the leftpondians have bought up all the supplies?

I only get anxious about important things, these days, so I think I'll have to get the Region 1 version when it comes out. I really, really, can't do without the commentaries.

(OK, I'll admit it, I want to hear what Frank has to say. He has such an amazing voice, and, ooh this room suddenly has become very warm, I wonder why? )

thanks befallen and libby!

When MM was first aired over here, I got it on 2 channels ( an irish one and a british one ). And -as far as i can remember - it was quickly moved from primetime (9pm or so) to a much later graveyard slot (12 or maybe even 1am) and then we never even got season 3 at all!

but I hear the show was pretty popular in france and maybe germany, so the chances of a european (region 1 or 2? i can never remember) set coming out may not be all that bad.

anyway, I'll probably wait about 2 days after the american release and finally shout at the top of my voice: THATS IT!! I CANT WAIT ANYMORE!!! :angryred:

...and order it from Amazon...

:grin2:

If you go to Amazon.com and search for Millennium in the DVD area of the website it will pull up a reference to the show. It also has a field on the right that you enter your email address in and when they have this as a stock item that they will email you directly. :jumping:
