Have any of you watched the "Prophecy" series? I'd be interested in your comments.

For those unfamiliar with the movies, there were three that developed a lengthy mythology about a second war in Heaven that arose because some angels, led by the archangel Gabriel, became jealous of God's attention to and love for humans. Gabriel is played by Christopher Walken whose ability to act sinister and deranged works well. A number of other good actors have played various angelic roles as well. To fully understand the angelic characters and what they represent in traditional religion you almost need to study up on Catholic and Jewish religion.

In the first movie, Viggo Mortensen played a very convincing Lucifer who actually assisted the humans in avoiding disaster from the rebellious angels. Gabriel's view of humans is clearly shown in his continued reference to humans as "talking monkeys."

Any comments? :praying:

I have seen a bit of one of them and it looked very interesting. I switched off to catch it in full next time it was on. I think it was number 1.

I've seen the first three movies (at least 1 of 2 sequels has been filmed so far and I wonder when the next one will be released to DVD). I have grown to like the first movie, I didn't care much for the second one, and the third on wasn't too bad (but it didn't impress me).

I think the first was the best. I've seen all three (video rental) and have the first one on DVD. Haven't seen the other two on DVD anywhere, but I haven't done a diligent search.

BEER---> Funny thing. 'Prophecy' the 1st, is showing on AMC as I write. 1979 with Talia Shire and Robert Foxworth.

BELCH

That is an unrelated movie that has nothing to do with the Prophecy film series.

BEER---> Yes the original 'Prorhecy' is kind of cheesy. The Prophecy series is showing this week end on SciFi, along with Christoper Walken (I love this guy) in 'Dead Zone'. Guess I'll throw away the channel changer this week end.

Yes indeed. Walken is a strange bloke! I could imagine him as a poor man's Frank Black. Nah!

Frank Black was basically a good guy. It's hard to see Walken in anything as a good guy. He always seems to have an evil agenda even when he seems to be the good guy.
