I'm going to start this thread here to see if I get a bigger response than down in the Coffee Lounge folder. It is Millennium related. About the topic of Frank Black appearing on The Simpsons:

I didn't know where I could start a topic off specifically about the idea of Frank Black appearing in The Simpsons so I've started a new thread off for the show (I was probably going to start one for The Simpsons sometime down the line so this is as good time as any).

The Old Man,

You saying what it would be like with Frank helping the police made me think of one particular Springfield resident - Chief Wiggum.

Another thought I had would be how tall would they make the cartoon version of Lance Henriksen as Frank on The Simpsons? I keep thinking that he's tall so he would tower over the other characters, but I've never thought of the subject of the characters' height in this way before. Only now when thinking of seeing Frank Blac on The Simpsons. So Frank would be the same as the other adult characters.

It would be fun I think. Like when they did the crossover with TXF, the animators could put Lucy Butler in the background like they did with the Cigarette Smoking Man.

i was always under the impression that lance henricksen was a bit of a short ass. and i'm sure frank black has major issues with his being vertically challanged as he drives that huged jeep. one man living in the city does not need a big child-killer jeep like that! he needs a set of ladders to get into the drivers seat!

Amnesiac - He'd have a bit of trouble getting into Homer's Mr Plow snowmobile then!

19:19 - Oh it would have to be a pretty dark episode. Trouble is though, when it's a comedy show and you're mixing in Millennium elements that's going to be a tricky thing to do. But it would be interesting to see.

Yeah, but remember how much fun they had with Frank being so "dark"? Like on "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defence" or "Somehow, Saiten Got Behind Me?"

indeed, i would have loved to see it

Are you replying to me 19:19, or Raven Wolf?

I had thought today of a funny sounding scene which could be very effective if done right. You know how on The Simpsons they have scientists in lab coats looking all serious? Well picture this......

Homer is in a room with Frank sitting on the other side of the table. Frank (in his Season 1 days with the khaki jacket he wore in most episodes and in some of Season 3) is looking stony-faced. Homer tries to make him laugh intentionally. The camera flicks to Frank who is unaffected. This goes on for a while longer and still no smile or laugh from Frank.

Raven Wolf - Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense was my favourite episode of Season 2 and was superb at playing on the characteristic of Frank being serious. If they did something like that in a Simpsons episode it would be great.

it was to you wavecrest.

it would be funny but you just can't match the hilarity(spelled wrong, probably) of lance's expression when he punched that guy in the balls.

i was crying laughing when i saw that!!!

I've been trying to come up with ideas for a cross over but i haven't got very far. I'd imagine that Frank would be doing a non-profiling job (and not enjoying it very much) and in the episode, the Simpsons help him to find his true calling, whether that be a profiler, TV weatherman, interior decorator or insurance salesman, i hadn't decided. I really like the interior decorator idea tho; Frank would specialise in yellow.

There's two scenes i have in my mind; before anyone knows he is a profiler, someone says to him (such as police chief wiggum) "Hey, aren't you the Frank Black? The guy from the group?" Frank hastely states he has nothing to do with Millenium now and he is no longer profiling. wiggum then says, "Profiling? Millennium? Aren't you the guy from Frank Black and the Catholics" (Or the Pixies)

The second scene is an 'in-joke'; someone has the ouroborus screensaver on their computer, someone really unlikely, like the comic book store guy, Mr Burns or Maggie. Or even the reverand.

A completely different idea, maybe Homer is falsely accused or framed for murder (probably by Sideshow Bob) and the police call in Frank Black to profile this murderer who is so unlike any other murderer they've ever met. i can just imagine Homer sitting in the interrogation room, looking wide eyed and blank as Frank tries to interview him . . . Wavecrest's idea could come into this maybe. my mind's a-buzzing now. maybe i should sit down and think of something properly.

It would be a second chance to see some really LOL comedy after that scene which for me was one of the highlights of the brilliant Jose Chung's Doomsday Defence. I loved it. And I was doing the same! ->
