Guest GeJe
Hello everyone, I just get my 7.1 receiver and I was rejoicing to watch the first season in glorious 5.1 audio. Millenium has such a great soundtrack ! But I can't understand why my DVD player (PS3, Mac, or any I've tried) reports that it's 2.0 dolby digital audio. From the rear of the DVD box, it's clearly stated : "français 5.1" "English 5.1", with the little logo of the five speakers. Is this a known bug ? Am I doing something wrong ? Thank you for any help you could give.
Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted April 20, 2008 Elders (Admins) Share Posted April 20, 2008 Hi, On DVD, Millennium did not get a 5.1 remixed soundtrack, I was very sad about that too. The DVD is definitley Dolby 2.0 channel. The series was originally presented on TV in Dolby Surround. Dolby 2.0 still carries rear sound channels which can be heard from 4.1, 5.1 and 7.1 speakers, it is confusing. However the same sound comes out of both rear speakers, that is they don't have their own unique sounds on each side like in 5.1. On my S1 Region 2 UK box, it says 2.0 Surround and displays the correct logo: You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Surround https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Digital On the Miami Vice DVD's for example, the sound was remixed into 5.1. I wish they would have done that with Millennium.
