Again, how do you NOT notice ???

In cases like this, capital punishment should be mandatory. No appeals, no long lines on death row.

Blind Justice!!!!!!!!! I agree, when it is obvious, obvious, obvious the creeps ought to be dead with in three days.

How much of a trial would they require to determine the guilt of that monster? Just take the word of the victim. I'd give him a week, just because that's probably how long it would take the beaurocratic a$$wipes to get off their butt and do the paperwork to flip the switch or toss the rope over the tree.

If ever there has been a real life Horror story then this is most surely a candidate. A blight on humanities record and a tragedy that I cannot find the right words express.

Amen to that!

As for my own feelings on the mother, the wife of this man... (& all there are here are feelings....opinions are not facts. they are feelings.) It seems obvious to me that a monster like this isn't necessarily (though, this is also possible) going to be just the most wonderful husband in the world to his wife. Therefore, it is quite possible that she was also abused, either physically, emotionally, or sexually, and therefor may not have been thinking or acting in a way we would call "normal". Just as psychology has shown the power of the mind, of emotional torture and the ability to MAKE a person believe almost anything, it is POSSIBLE that the mother of this 40-something year old victim did NOT know what her husband had been doing. She MAY be a victim herself, and it is unfair to judge anyone without knowing all the facts first.

As to the wife, I am reminded of LOIN LIKE A HUNTING FLAME, season 1

And, in that episode, do you remember how simple minded that young woman was? The mental illness that had enabled her to tolerate a married life that no modern woman would ever tolerate? Being married for all those years, and still being a virgin? She was either already mentally ill when he married her, or became so soon after. She had been kept in this simplistic life, speaking to no one but her sister, never driving, never even leaving the house! This woman was, in her own way, just as mentally disturbed/disabled as her husband was.

That being said, and if that is the case with the wife, then she MUST be mentally lacking or a victim of some sort of abuse herself, causing her to draw into her own world and ignore the obvious. It's much easier to swallow that version of her role in this rather than to admit she was shallow and chose to just not care about the peculiarities of her husband's life.
