HighPlainsDrifter
i am sure there are some exorcist fans here.......i was re-watching the exorcist the other night and my question is....the hospital that Damian took his mom to, is it the same hospital that appears in Exorcist 3? Exorcist 3 should of been the second sequel Has anyone seen previews to the new Exorcist movie?
Guest se7en
.......to the best of my knowledge it is the same hospital. I'm watching EX3 in a few,so i'll keep a look out. i wish like hell they would release a spec.edition of EX3 with blatty's original ending as an option to choose from when viewing the movie! ...have not heard to much about the upcoming exocist but i AM hopefull about it. -(i agree that 'Legion" should have been the sequel to the first film. ....then again i don't think "Legion" came out as a book till the 80's so...........i'll just say that PT.II maybe should not have been made at all,or at least made much much better than it currently is......which isn't saying much. LOL!) ...se7en

Guest Regan MacNeil
The Exorcist is THE GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME!!! I never really considered whether or not it was the same hospital in part 3. I'm dying for Exorcist: The Beginning even though I just know it's gonna suck. Although they have been making some pretty good remakes lately (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead) so maybe they'll start taking sequels seriously too. They do have a potentially good story. But it's been pushed back and pushed back and refilmed...it just sounds like they're desperately trying to salvage a miserable piece of crap of a movie. I hope I'm wrong...
Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted May 26, 2004 Elders (Admins) Share Posted May 26, 2004 Possible Spoiler... A new change of underwear should accompany Exorcist III: Legion in my opinion. The scene were the white figure follows that nurse across the hall way still makes me shiver. I don't want to say anymore without spoiling. This new movie you mention Regan, is that by William Peter Blatty like Part 3? if so it should be good and stay loyal to parts 1 and 3.
Guest se7en
....just watched "EX3" again last night, don't know how many times that makes it?,and i still beleive it to be the best filmed representaion/interpretation of Legion ever,on any medium except blatty's original book of course! when i first heard, about 15 years ago, that blatty was going to adapt/direct his own book "Legion" i remember thinking "this is gonna suck." -(anyone remember stephen King's "MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE"? he managed to make a piece of horrid crap from a short story that was pure camp to begin with! the only good thing was the score by AC/DC.)-when it finally came out in theaters in 1990 i remember being astonished, despite some hefty changes,at what a really fine visual 1st time director blatty ended up being. i know that when people read a book it is unlikely everyone,or anyone, experiences it,or visualizes it the same way since we use our imaginations in reading. "Legion",the book, inspired a unique terrifying vibe for me and unless i have just convinced myself of this fact i'll be damned if "EX3:Legion" did not perfectly match the vibe i had reading the book. it was just one of those rare one of a kind expereinces i think where everything came together, the directing, the lighting, the acting and OHHHH that f***ing score(!) to create, seemingly at least, the same vibe i had during the book. I've never had that kind of experience since, and while i know blatty had much help in directing EX3,it was by no means "ghost-directed" and he just did the most incredible job. a few say that he just copied Friedkin's style and i just could not disagree with that more if i wanted to. this is very much his baby and i really do beleive that he has a real talent as a director. i would give almost anything for blatty audio commentary, original ending and behind the scenes! -(strangely,one of my fav scenes involves no gore or horror;it's the perfectly directed/acted scene between Lt. Kinderman and the father when they are standing in the movie theater gallery discussing the fact that Kinderman has a carp in his bathtub. lol! absolutely priceless in every way. ...about the only thing i know about the newest exorcist is that it is not a remake or sequel but rather a "prequel". i think it was,or is,titled "Exorcist: the beginning" which is/was supposed to be closely based on the, supposed, true story that the book was based on. inspite of the delays and the reshoots i am excited. i would be more excited if i knew that blatty was somehow involved but i honestly do not know. ~se7en
voidprime
se7en, Exorcist III was the second movie that Blatty had directed. Blatty directed The Ninth Configuration (also written by Blatty) about 10 years before he directed Exorcist III. Blatty offered John Carpenter the job of directing legion (EX3), but Carpenter refused and Blatty decided to direct the movie. The Exorcism scene was one of the changes they made Blatty do (the exorcism scene wasn't in the original cut of the movie before rehoots). be Seeing you, David Blackwell
Guest se7en
...yes indeed,i just checked the internet movie database. was this picture any good? ...or,more importantly,if you've read it,is the book any good? what was the genre and/or story about? ,....and,as he continues to pummel with questions,is it on dvd? ...it's weird but the book and movie,"The Ninth Configuration",does not even ring a bell for me. irregardless though,"EX3" is , IMHO, a beautifuly directed film in every way. -(i could maybe have done without Kinderman-[the late George C. Scott]-spraying spit everywhere in the final "showdown". man,he was on friggin' intense actor i'll tell ya.) se7en
Guest lilblackgirl
I'm a huge fan of the first (but then who isn't), especially with 'the version you've never seen' being released two years ago around it's 25th anniversary. the second movie was beyond a joke. i watched the entire thing out of sheer will and not from interest, but I agree fully with everyone here that the 3rd was just amazing. i too get chills everytime the killer crosses the hall out of the hospital room. and the kitchen scene with the nurse near the end always grabs me. as far as the new one is concerned, it is a prequel called 'the beginning' and has undergone some major issues. the entire script was filmed and turned out that it was so bad, that they fired the director and hired a new one and they've just completed refilming the entire film here recently. not a single scene from the first filming has been included in the reshoot. it's supposed to take place in africa and stars stellan skarsgard, i believe. check some of the big horror sites like bloody disgusting for information on it. i am intrigued in your discussion of the book for the 3rd film as i read the original and to this day, still thinkk it was one of the scariest and most f***ed up books i've ever read. truly made an impresion on me. Guest Regan MacNeil
I'm the world's biggest Exorcist fan. To The Old Man, William Peter Blatty has made it VERY clear he has nothing to do with Exorcist: The Beginning. He told Entertainment Weekly "There is an ''Exorcist IV'' in development, but I have had nothing at all to do with it. As to when we might see it in the theaters, my profound and fervent hope is NEVER. I have caught a whiff of what they are up to [and I'm not pleased]. " To se7en, "The Ninth Configuration" is based on WPB's book "Twinkle, Twinkle, Killer Kane!" and it's about a mansion that NASA and the airforce use as a mental institution for astronauts/pilots who have "cracked up". There is a lot of discussion between the psychiatrist and one of the main patients about the existence of God. The book is a comedy but some of the arguments about God really made me think. I loved the book, but I wasn't a big fan of the movie, it looks REALLY dated now. The DVD is out, but I would recommend reading the book.
