Earthnut
Pork always has been considered unclean and told not to eat it; it's full of toxic poisons. Spiritually speaking they are considered harlots, and the systems of religion that prostitute the word and then cut off your power. They do make fun pets though. Walkabout
The last major outbreak of swine flu during the mid 70's was being compared to flu pandemic. Those of us working in the meat industry were sure to get sick and many were going to die.. No meat cutter, butcher or meat inspector and no pig farmers [to my knowledge] died of swine flu let alone got sick. We've more to fear from west nile and anthranx. 4th Horseman
funny....when was the last time anyone heard from the CDC about anthrax or west nile???....i guess this is just another case of media overdrive...my bad....the best way to step into the abyss is to ignore that cliff that is in front of you.. CDC experts note that while it is possible to contain an outbreak of disease that is in one limited area, once it is reported in widespread locations, the spread is impossible to control. 4th Horseman

Very much media hype and nothing more [iMHO], apparently the United Kingdom is stockpiling Tamoxifen, or so sensationalists would have us believe and let me assure you nothing is further from the truth. The UK has an abundance of Tamoxifen already, most countries do, no stockpiling in evidence as far as I know and believe me I would know as I would be the one stockpiling it. The whole reporting of this is so decidedly celebrity that here's hoping rationale prevails and people sleep safely in their beds. I am no Nostradamus but we have been here so many times before. Don't be downbeat people, with so many exciting things occurring here we need not worry about the pigs. There are pearls amongst swine, to quote an old Limey phrase, and it couldn't be further from the truth. Smiles :) Eth

Walkabout
As they also say 'Knowledge is power'. Most virus are spread thru contact; so wash them hands and DON'T PICK ANYONES NOSE!! FYI: horses are suseptable to west nile so anywhere there are alerts to horse owners humans should be AWARE and avoid mosquitos
