Hi guys,

There's been a lot of interesting discussion of late regarding 2012 and people's expectations for what that date will bring. I tend to be a little Jose Chung with this, I think the 12/12/2012 will come and go much unlike any other day, I'm not expecting expanding cosmic bubbles, spiritual interventions or any notable change in human consciousness. Heck, I'm not expecting anything at all. As Jose commented with regards to expectancy for the year 2000 it will come and go and bring with it a thousand years of the same old crap. Maybe I'm being an old grouch here but I wondered if anyone expects anything at all to happen be it the end of the world, the dawn of a new spiritual epoch, a day in England without rain (now that would be something.) Thoughts?

There's always changes in the air, whether it be planetary, solar, or galactic. And there's no telling what's in store leading up to 2012 and after passing this center focused date to the future. What seems to be important to me is how we accept changes, which is in relation to our limited understanding of God and the universe. Changes today and tomorrow, good or bad, are changes nevertheless, and some are filled with surprises. I love surprises. How profound the change depends upon your own personal knowledge and understanding.

This reminds me of what Peter Watts said in, "In Arcadia Ego." He was quoting Saint Augustine when he said, "Miracles are not contrary to nature, only to what we know about nature. Long live Peter.

Hi Darlene,

I throw myself before you wisdom to be honest because I know how wise you are on such matters but the reason the 2000 or 2012 thing has never really gelled with me is because I can't see the logic of being so calendar specific. I accept there is an all pervasive Spirit out there, I accept that it is capable of great changes in human consciousness and so on and thankfully, and I do mean thankfully, I believe in miracles (life would be much bleaker sometimes if I didn't) but I have trouble that God (in whatever form you believe He/She takes) works to a calendar. Is there any evidence to support the theory that this is indeed how the great cosmic plan unfolds, if anyone knows I'm guessing it's you.

In a way we've been living on borrowed time for a very long time. I think it all started with the industrial revolution. It's been downhill since then.

No, God doesn't work with, or in, a calendar, because God is eternal. The Word speaks of seasons, that, "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose...," which tells us that everything is divided into seasons, a period of time. God can and sometimes does operate in time, but "The Great Spirit" is not bound by it, as we are. Nor is God just "out there." God is everywhere, and in our own individual spirits, this is so we and God are able to communicate with each other, other then using tablets of stone or a burning bush. The Holy Spirit is in you and around you, holding it all together. Thank God for that. This 2012 alignment is not a one day event, but a period of time, a season, and for all we know we are already living in the beginning of it. There's an old saying that at the end of chaos comes change. We are definitely living in a time of chaos, and so dearly need changes. Here's a thought, maybe we are witnessing the beginning of the Kingdom of God being established here on earth, and all the systems of men falling, just as they have failed us. Can I get an Amen? LOL

Gravity Well, your statement reminds me of what Einstein said when asked what World War 3 would be fought with. He said he didn't know about World War 3, but that World War 4 would be fought with sticks and stones.

Speaking of miracles Mark, Einstein's quote is awesome to me. "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

You know when I read your posts Darlene I have to mentally lift my cognitive faculties up a notch or two. One moment I may be reading something quite perfunctory on the the internet and the next minute I spy something like the above post. I can fully understand why Millennium resonates with you so strongly, it speaks your language.

Quite, quite fascinating.

Guest Laurent.

Normally, I'd fully expect 1000 years of the same old crap, but assuming humanity hits 3012 might be a bit of a stretch. :oneeyedwinK

The same old crap until:

option #1: The end of civilization as we know it.

option #2: We get so close to the end of civilization that we have no other option than to work together (stop wasting money on movies, marketing and useless products) on solutions for the survival of mankind (on this planet or elsewhere).
