ethsnafu
It is Richard unfortunately. I loathe those horrible videos on Youtube (called screamers I believe) that have you staring at the corner of the room for twenty seconds, waiting for something to happen, only to have a image of Linda Blair as Regan fly at the screen without warning with some hideous sound effect tacked on. Even if I know that's what is about to happen I still age a good ten years watching one of them. Eth
Guest SpooktalkGiGi
I went to the midnight premiere of A Nightmare on Elm Street with my daughter, son and my daughter's boyfriend and was really surprised to see it almost sold out. We had to sit up front in the break your neck seats, lol I was really exicited about seeing this movie and Freddy is one of my most favorite movie monsters. I remember the original, i was in high school when it came out and all the kids were sneaking in to see it. lol :) Freddy is best known for his wit and charm, yes he has charm. lol and i was so excited to see what this remake would be like and how the new Freddy would do, I had my popcorn and coke in hand and my smuggled in candy and set down to enoy the next hour and thrity minutes, boy was i in for a surprise, lol, i think i enjoyed the trailers before the movie more than the movie itself. :( I was sadly disappointed by this movie and i have read it has gotten bad reviews and not a lot of people liked it. Well like i told my kids "This ain't your Mamma'a Freddy" lol..........
Guest SpooktalkGiGi
I was dissappointed in seeing that Nancy had takend a backseat to Chris's character played by Katie Cassidy who did a brillant job at playing Chris, i will give her credit for that. the whole movie just wwasn;t the same for me, i didn't have the same feelings i did as in the first one and i tried with all my might not to compare the two. I went into this movie with a fresh new look attitude but it was hard after watching it to really see anything good about it. It wasn't scary, the new Freddy wasn't scary, more to be pittied than to be scared by and his one liners fell flat and was just not funny or told with any personality at all. :( I loved the original Freddy's one liners and charmand you just didn't get that from this film. It felt rushed and not explained very well at all. The backstory was weird, I thought Freddy was a child killer not a child molester and that was why he was killing the kids cause they turned him in, i thought he was after revenge cause of the parents burned him to death. I just did not like the way the story was told and it had too many gotcha moments with Freddy popping out and trying to scare you and people coming around the corner popping out trying to scare you, just didn't work for me. And there was no waterbed death scene either, which was a highlight in the original one, when Johnny Depp met his demise in his waterberd. lol Nqancy wasn't eve likeable in this movie, she was very dark and strange and broody if that is a word and just had no likeablity at all. The only real bright spot in the whole movie besides the ending was the character of Quniten, i thought the actor who played him did a great job and i really liked his character, he was likable, funny and did a really good job of at least trying to make you scared ofr Freddy. He was the one who liked Nancy and worked with her in fighting off Freddy. I really had so much high hopes for this movie but was soooo disappointed, i wish i had stayed at home. lol The new Freddy as my daughter's boyfriend puts it looks and sounds like Clint Eastwood, lol which isn 't a bad thing but not for Freddy, lol Robert England Freddie was scary and had crazy eyes and you could see through his face and was very scary, the new one, not so much. lol I wanted it to be a movie that i could go see again and again and wanted to go see again and again but it just fell short. :( I went to see The Backup Plan with my daughter yesterday and i can say as much as it pains me that i enjoyed that movie so much more than A Nightmare on Elm Street. :( I think if you are a diehard horror movie fan and love Freddy you should go see this one and make up your own mind, it is worth a shot afterall but in the end i think you will feel the same as me, let down and disappointed. :( Laura OOOOOPs looks like i forgot to add my spoiler review in the above post so here it is LOL :) Laura :)
Beerbelch
BEER----> BTW - 'Freddie' is played by Jackie Earl Hailey (Bad News Bears/ the original - Kelly) and is aslo a major character in one of my favorite shows right now "Human Target". Don't know if this was brought up before. BELCH

Guest WaveCrest
I'm not as much of a fan of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street as I am with the original Halloween and Friday the 13th. However it is one of my favourite horror films. I'll go and see the remake next Friday probably.
Guest WaveCrest
A review of the Region 1 DVD of the Nightmare on Elm Street documentary 'Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy' was posted on DVD news and reviews website Home Cinema @ The Digital Fix today (it used to be called DVD Times). The total running time is almost a whopping four hours long (and that dosen't include the DVD extras).
