The 'most prolific' serial killer in U.S. history is sentenced to death as police fear he could be behind 130 murders

Odd...I had to go to a UK newspaper web site to find this article. Apparently it's not getting much notice in the US.

BEER---> Well. he's all over the news here in Orange County, CA. They took him out of prison to go to trial for this last murder. Trouble is, he was on 'Death Row' when they took him to trial. Personally, I think California's death penalty system is a joke. Most people that go to jail for this get special attention which cost our fair state a lot of money, 'cause they stay there until their sentence is completed. But guess what, we haven't had anyone - Put To Death - for at least 15 years. They ought to put them in the general public area in prison and see how long they last.

It amazes me that people will talk about everything under the sun that has no significance whatsoever, some star being embarrassed on a TV show, or some other stupid subject, but something like this, it's almost nowhere. It's never been discussed at ATT/Yahoo home page for starters.

They ought to put them in the general public area in prison and see how long they last.

The same with petifiles and rapists.

I'm surprised to hear this isn't getting much coverage over in the US folks. In face, I'm surprised it isn't getting fairly high coverage globally. When the activities of Harold Shipman became apparent in the UK (with 215 murders being positively ascribed to him) I believe coverage was global. It was certainly wall to wall here in the UK for months.

The actor is teaming up with Martin Scorsese yet again for “The Devil in the White City," based on Erik Larson’s non-fiction book of the same name, according to Variety. DiCaprio will portray H.H. Holmes, dubbed America's first-documented serial killer, who confessed to 27 murders, but is said to have killed up to 200 people in his lifetime.

DiCaprio won't just be any serial killer, though: He'll be a charming psychopath.

Holmes, also known under the name Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, built his own three-story hotel later nicknamed "Murder Castle," where he lured his victims from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. After killing his victims in various horrifically equipped rooms (there were gas chambers and blow torches), Holmes would sell their skeletons to medical schools. (Hey Ryan Murphy, can Leo get an "American Horror Story: Hotel" cameo?)

DiCaprio has been wanting to play Holmes for quite some time now. Tom Cruise first purchased the rights to Larson's book in 2003 and DiCaprio came on board initially in 2010, but after a years-long studio bidding war, Paramount has finally reacquired the rights. Billy Ray ("Captain Phillips") will pen the script with DiCaprio producing and Scorsese directing.
