Earthnut
Wow Spook I'm shocked that you didn't paint it pink. Yes, it definitely is yellow. Love you.
HighPlainsDrifter
I hope you don't find a Finch nailed up in the basement of the birdhouse
Elders (Moderators) Libby Posted July 11, 2010 Elders (Moderators) Share Posted July 11, 2010 I love that! I also like the little picket fence in front. If you get birds taking up residence, please let me know. We've had two plain wood bird boxes here with never any takers. Maybe they're waiting for us to do a makeover. Earthnut
Libby, maybe you need to paint it yellow. Joe, Graham, does it even have a basement?
Elders (Moderators) Libby Posted July 12, 2010 Elders (Moderators) Share Posted July 12, 2010 I've mentally rehearsed a conversation betwixt me and my dear husband about painting a bird box yellow - nope, that wouldn't work in a million years. A couple of interesting points, though: When the builder guys were digging out a trench for our building works, they were most entertained by the local blackbirds who were this -->.<-- close to them, and they thought that was cute. But it was the blackbirds being territorial and grabbing the worms, and they didn't care about the builders at all. Today I was hanging out the washing and noticed a blackbird standing just a couple of feet away from me. I also thought that was cute (oh, how we humans anthropomorphise) until my husband pointed out that I was being given the evil glare because there were bread crumbs on the lawn nearby and obviously the blackbird's opinion was that I should just darn well push off and let him have his lunch in peace. Guest SpooktalkGiGi
Well the only things taking up residence in the newly remodled birdhouse are BEES!!!!! UGH!!! They are like bad renters that won't leave! lol Laura :)
Earthnut
Lara, maybe the bees like yellow. We need them, so try and be just alittle more patient, and you never know, one day they may be gone and birds will actually move in. Libby, you were anthropomorphising? Sounds serious.
