Guest Charger
This sad news came to me earlier today... One of the truly great comedians Leslie Nielsen died of pneumonia at the age of 84, yesterday. Leslie's most well known character must have been Lt. Frank Drebin of Police Squad and later on The Naked Gun trilogy... What a great actor... Rest In Peace Leslie...
ethsnafu
This is very sad news indeed. I don't think there can be many people who Leslie hasn't made laugh at some point and that is an amazing legacy. He had a rare and unique talent and I don't we will see his like again. May he rest in peace and may no-one ever again call him Shirley. Sad day folks, Eth

Walkabout
before he was know for his comedic talent he was an action leading man. He starred in one of my all time fave sci-fi Forbidden Planet.
Guest Sidewinder
Sad news indeed. As most of us I loved The naked Gun and a lot from his other stuff (incl. Due South, Forbitten Planet, Airplane, even the late Mel Brooks Dracula-movie had some moments...). No one could look that serious while doing silly things. He will be missed but will be alive in his work forever. RIP, Mr. Nielsen. Vincent Ludwig: Drebin! Jane: Frank! Frank: You're both right.

Guest WaveCrest
Very sad news. Loved Leslie Nielsen in Police Squad!, Airplane! and the Naked Gun films. He was also a serious actor, appearing in Columbo and played a memorable role in the Hawaii Five-O episode "We Hang Our Own". But for me I'll remember Leslie Nielsen for playing Lt. Frank Drebin. Some of my favourite quotes: The Naked Gun films: Ed: "Sex, Frank?" Frank Drebin: "Er, not right now Ed". Woman in shop: "Is this some kind of bust?" Frank: "Well, that's quite impressive". ty7du
I was so surprised to see his turn in George Romero's horror anthology Creepshow, he really was creepy in that one. He had a great range, he could be funny and serious and often did that at the same time in the Naked Gun films :D
ethsnafu
He was an amazing talent and could work right across the spectrum but obviously he will always be remembered for that uncanny ability to remain so serious whilst delivering the most hilarious lines. I remember him from this films you guys have mentioned as well as The Poseidon Adventure and a series of commercials he made for the UK advertising Red Rock Cider. My favourite film of his just has to be Forbidden Planet because it was such a ground-breaking film and paved the way for much of what came after it. It's nice to see so many tributes being paid to him on the television. Eth I love this line: Lt. Frank Drebin: Real nice party, Hapsburg... I see a lot of familiar face-lifts. Guest WaveCrest
Leslie Nielsen was one of the few people who could do both serious and funny roles (like with fellow Airplane! actors Robert Stack and Lloyd Bridges).
