A British Basset Hound in Yorkshire, named George, knocked the phone to the floor and got tangled up in the cord, wrapping it around his neck. Somehow he managed to dial 999, and since the operator heard heavy breathing, police were dispatched, finding the choking dog. Here's one link to the story with a picture of the dog. I tried to upload it but couldn't find a full editor to click on to attach the picture. That's never happened before, so I am officially stating I don't like this new forum program.

That's a lovely story, Earthnut. However it was that the dog managed to hit the right buttons for help, it's wonderful that the operator and police responded so quickly.

Walkabout: biggrin.gif. I do have a fondness for the number 666, or 668 (the neighbour of the beast). My very first ISP, when I joined the internet, was called Demon Internet. Back then, it was all dial-up, and they provided various telephone numbers to dial so members could choose the nearest (the calls got more expensive the further away). All their numbers ended with 666, because no-one else wanted those!

By one of those strange coincidences, I have today been re-watching one of my DVD-based lecture courses called "The Turning Points in American History". Some of those "turning points" are actually global, especially the lecture called "The Digital Age - The Personal Computer". In that lecture, the lecturer talks about the first Apple computer which went on sale in July 1976 at the price of $666.66. wiggle.gif

Randee - I'm using Firefox 11.0 and it does load for me, although it's a bit slower than most websites.

David - It's an intriguing map. I just have to learn a bit more about geography to figure out why there's that huge wodge (technical term!) of wind coming south down the middle.

What a cool map. It loaded just fine for me in IE. Maybe all that is needed is an update, flash or driver. I'm no tech but that's been my experience in the past with things that move.

Randee, I'm in the middle in Oklahoma. Yikes. It does appear to be West of Okie City. We just had some big storms yesterday on the West side of the state. The center area is located at the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles.
