Thrills me to say that I am one of the proud owners of these soundtracks.  So disappointing about the show Harsh Realm because it really was very good.  At least The Lone Gunman lasted for awhile.  Thanks Alex,    I needed to hear some healing music, and obviously came to the right place.  Mark Snow is the master.

Snow Files of the Week: "Main Title/The Pits/Cliffside Chase/Maggie Leaves" from "Jake Speed" (1986).

It's time for some cheesy 80's action. During the mid-80's, Mark began composing more electronic scores, after he bought a synclavier (which Mark still uses). In 1986, "Jake Speed" came along and with him Mark's electronic 80's score. The score was released back then by Varese Sarabande Records on Vinyl and got a CD release just a few years ago on Buysoundtrax Records, limited to 1000 copies.

Thank you as always, but the melody today got me up for a bit and do a couple things while listening, saving on my back sitting in this chair.  Mark Snow's music energizes and heals.

Snow Files of the Week: "The Surgeon/Alpine Page/Dude Looks Like A Lady" from "MillenniuM", episode "Lamentation" (1996).

This episode, written by Chris Carter, marks a milestone within MillenniuM's story arc. We don't only see the death of one of the main side characters, but also the first appearance of the demonic Lucy Butler, played by Sarah Jane Redmond, who would haunt Frank Black through every season of the show. And on top of that, the so-called "Gehenna Demon" makes a stunning appearance.

It was also a standout episode musically. Mark wrote a signature motif for the psychotic Dr. Fabricant, which then turned out the be more Lucy Butlers musical mark ("The Surgeon"). And Mark also incorporated some classical music into his score. "Alpine Page" includes a melody from Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture", which also appeared in the X-Files episode "Post-Modern Prometheus".

The tracks were released on the second volume of MillenniuM music from La-La Land Records. The set is limited to 2.000 copies.

Snow Files of the Week: "Prologue/Main Title/The Boys Find The Cave/The Kiss/Happy Ending" from the tv movie THE LITTLE KIDNAPPERS (1990).

For this Disney Channel production Mark again could get his hands on an orchestra. The "Main Title" begins with a solo flute and transforms into a wonderful, soaring piece of music. The theme presented here also makes its way into the rest of the score, with happy child adventures music like "The Boys Find The Cave". The score again shows Mark's abilities to create memorable music outside of the X-Files universe.

The score was released, together with Mark's music for IN THE LINE OF DUTY: SMOKE JUMPERS, on the "Mark Snow Collection Volume 1" by Dragon's Domain Records. The CD is limited to 500 copies.

Snow Files of the Week: "A Message of Faith" from "Night Sins" (1997).

Of course, the score has the familiar sounds, that we already know from Mark's work on "The X-Files" and "MillenniuM". "Night Sins" has a beautiful main theme, which gets its finest presentation in this track. Mark also added etheral choir work to it and showed again, that he indeed can write beautiful piano themes.

The album was released by BSX Records and is limited to 1000 copies.

Snow File of the Week: "Love Theme (aka "Rose's Theme")/Memories" from "Conundrum".

While still working on the second season of the X-Files, Mark Snow composed the score for this 1995 tv thriller. It's got some of Mark's familiar X-Sounds, combined with haunting female vocals.

The album was released by Buysoundtrax Records, limited to 1000 copies.
