Snow Files of the Week: "Tender Time/Big Finish/End Title" from the movie "Jake Speed" (1986).

It´s time for more cheesy 80's action! "Jake Speed" was one of the first complete electronic scores by Mark. His score has everything you love (or hate) about 80's action music. Nevertheless it's lots of fun and pretty groovy.

An album was released back then by Varese Sarabande on Vinyl. Some years ago the album was re-released by BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM on CD. It is limited to 1.000 copies and still available. There are even some copies left, that were signed by Mark at the Buysoundtrax website.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "Heltering the Skelter/Revisiting the House/Finale", from the tv movie "Helter Skelter" (2004).

For this tv movie about Charles Manson and his family, Mark composed a very dark ambient score. His eerie soundscapes are mixed with haunting female solo vocals and a somber main theme.

The score was released by BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM, limited to 1.000 copies. The CD is still available.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "Prayer/Suicide Exam" from the X-Files episode "Die Hand Die Verletzt".

A remarkable score by Mark for this episode. The story around satanic rituals, belief and posession inspired Mark to this very dark and gothic score. The brooding ambient music sets the mood for the chilling events that occur at a high school. Mark also brings some satanic chants into the music, making this one of the most memorable scores of the entire show.

"Die Hand Die Verletzt" is german for "The Hand that wounds". The term can be heard in the satanic prayer the teachers are doing at the beginning of the episode. Ironically the episode got another title in Germany, where it's called "Satan".

Music from "Die Hand Die Verletzt" was released on the second volume of the X-Files 4-Disc-Box-Set by La-La Land Records. The set is limited to 3.000 copies.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "Aboard Ship/The Lincoln Ship", from the tv movie "20.000 Leagues under the Sea" (1997).

Starring Michael Caine as Captain Nemo, this tv movie gave Mark the opportunity to compose a sweeping adventure score. Due to the budget restrictions the orchestra wasn't that large and Mark combined it with some of his electronics, but nevertheless he did a big sounding score with memorable themes, sometimes even reminding of something John Barry could have written.

An album got a limited release by Prometheus Records and it's sold out meanwhile. But you can still find some copies for reasonable prices.

Enjoy!

Snow Files of the Week: "Simone/Teaser" from the tv show "Smallville".

Mark composed the music for the teenage years of Superman for the fist six seasons. For seasons 7 to 10 Louis Febre took over, who was Mark's music editor on the show, because Mark wanted to have more time for other things.

Mark's music resembles his typical sound palette, as well as heroic superhero music added to the mix. There are tender moments, as well as brooding action music.

The music was released at first as a digital album. Later, it got a 2-CD set treatment by La-La Land Records, which contains more music than the digital release. The set is limited to 3.000 copies and still available.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Darlene. :)

Snow Files of the Week: Music from the tv movie "Murder between friends" (1994).

For this tv movie Mark composed a very atmospheric score, combined with a guitar as a solo instrument. The use of the guitar in this score reminds the listener of Michael Kamen's music for the "Lethal Weapon" movies, in which Eric Clapton provided the bluesy guitar parts. Maybe this was Mark's nod to his old friend Michael Kamen, since they knew each other since the early 70's and played together in the same band ("New York Rock and Roll Ensemble").

The score hasn't been released commercially yet, there is just a promotional release.

Enjoy!
