Elders (Moderators) Libby Posted October 8, 2014 Elders (Moderators) Share Posted October 8, 2014 That's very sad, but I wonder if he had been treated earlier he might have had a better chance of surviving. There's a nurse in Spain who had been treating two missionaries, one who had been in Liberia and one who had been in Sierra Leona, who has now contracted the disease. It's suspected that she inadvertently touched her face with her gloved hand - if so, that shows how virulent this disease is.

Elders (Moderators) Libby Posted October 10, 2014 Elders (Moderators) Share Posted October 10, 2014 The authorities really need to step up to the mark. But I understand that there is also an ethical aspect to this situation. We've become used to the idea that individual rights are important, but with a disease like this there's also the rights of the community. I think there's a distinction to be made that's similar to the free speech versus the not crying fire in a crowded theatre. People should normally have the right to pass freely into or out of a country, but not at the risk that they might be incubating a deadly disease that they could potentially pass on to others.
