First frost could hit this Friday / Saturday  in many parts of the central Mid-west .  This should speed up the color change before Halloween .

Posted in the Shoutbox that Colorado resorts don't have snow yet, and they should by now.  They are having a warm Fall.  Not a good sign.

It's an El Nino year, and scientists are still struggling to understand what that means globally. Apparently, the UK will have a bad winter, because migratory birds have arrived early from Russia, because there havve been unseasonably early and heavy snowfalls over there.

I noticed something different in the shoutbox yesterday. Earthnut's shout is blue. I have no idea what that signifies.

I'm not seeing it as blue, today or yesterday.  Could you possibly have clicked on, or highlighted it?

I have no idea if I could have accidentally caused it, or accidentally made it go away. But I've not seen it since.

On the other hand, after much research and prevarication, I have today ordered an Android tablet. After decades of desktops and laptops, this is my first foray into the world of tablets.

Good grief, my not-quite-two-years-old grandson could probably manage this new swipey-finger technology better than I'm likely to.

Delivery day is Tuesday. Which could be a day of "Wow, awesome!" Or could be a day when I (yet again) call on my techy offspring

I noticed that too Libby, on the forums it usually signifies hidden content for moderation reasons such as waiting approval, I'm not sure who that applies to the Chatbox though, it may just have been a bug. I upgraded the the Chatbox yesterday which fixed a few bugs that we may not have experienced or known about and it added compatibility with this 4.1.x series of the suite software.

Good luck with your new tablet Libby, when I bought my first Android phone I didn't expect to use it for surfing the Internet as much as it did, it's just the convenience of picking it up off the coffee table and instant access to your emails etc. I quickly invested in a tablet for the larger screen after that, they're incredibly useful.

Within a 2 weeks of scepticism, the iPad  became known known as Val's iPad since she was always using it! I still use my PC for more complex things though, I think you can't replace them 100% depending what you use them for and it's nice to get away into more piece and quiet of your home office sometimes!

I wanted something between my Kindle Paperwhite and my laptop - a bigger screen than the former and better physical portability than the latter; and something that supports mp4 (the format that I've ripped my lecture courses DVDs), and read my Word documents on (even if I have to convert those to pdf first). I spend a lot of time on my laptop or PC in my den, and it would be good to have something I can take with me when I want to go out, maybe to the library or a coffee shop.

Signed in as Bip, rather than Libby, as I'm not sure about the security on this tablet yet. I got it up and running but couldn't figure out how to transfer stuff from the PC to the tablet, so my daughter came round to sort that out for me.

Still lots to learn though.

Sent from my Android tablet! :fool:

Glad your daughter was able to help.  I would love to have a tablet, soon will be upgrading my Android phone from a mini to a maxi.
