For sure, plus we have to remember that the movie was back in 1990, and went down paths back then that they rarely went. Like the sex scene and nudity. seesthru
Yeah, the movie was a bit forward for the time.
Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted May 19, 2018 Elders (Admins) Share Posted May 19, 2018 I watched the first few episodes of season one, so I really should try again and catch up! Never saw the movie or read the book either.
Earthnut
After watching the TV series, the movie will be good, but not as good. Books are always the best because of the detail. It's been forever since I read it when it was released in the 80s, and sadly I don't remember anything I read. All the more reason why I'm enjoy the show so much. It's a must see, and deserves every one of its awards.
Gotham Gal
I like it because it seems like a new story for tv anyway.
Earthnut
Yes, it is new, and different. I personally am worn down from super heroes. Time to move on. But then again, it's what they're bringing in at the box office that matters to them.
Gotham Gal
'm not sure exactly what it says about our times that we need so many super heros, but surely it says *something.*
Earthnut
Personally, I think most people are living with insecurity, and super heroes give them hope and excitement. They want to be a super hero with powers, and are totally unaware that they can be, just not like what's on the screen, but that takes putting other before yourself. This is an "I, Me, My, Mine" generation, and sadly, that's selfishness. I see it everywhere.
seesthru
I'm not into super heroes. I think, after a lifetime of finding out superheroes ( so to speak) aren't real ( Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Fairy Godmothers Prince Charming, etc), I just can't get into the movies etc... But I read, back i the great depression and WWII, superhero stuff was very popular. Back then it was cowboys and such, but there was a great need among people to get some relief from the stress and horror of the times they were in, and movies, and yes, superheroes like the Lone Ranger etc, fit that bill.
