Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted March 18, 2019 Elders (Admins) Share Posted March 18, 2019 I just finished watching Season 3 of HBO's True Detective. I was absolutely hooked, the acting was really excellent and the atmosphere and storytelling were really compelling. This is definitely a series to be savoured late at night. Each season of True Detective is a stand-alone anthology with an ensemble cast, so you don't need to have seen the previous seasons. I love this format, very much like the brilliant Fargo, except in Fargo (which deserves its own thread) there are a few tie-ins, nods and references to previous seasons and the original Cohen Brothers film. The downside with the format is that when it's such a great series and you really get to like and feel for the characters, you get hooked and just want more. Anyhoo, I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for more crime drama with that certain MillenniumisticTM feel! Earthnut
Wow, in the 3rd season. I've heard about this show, but have never watched an episode. Now you have wet my whistle. Thanks for the heads up Old Man. We need an "Old Man" emoji. 1 "Time is too slow for those who wait; too swift for those who fear; too long for those who grieve; too short for those who rejoice. Gotham Gal
I don't usually gravitate towards detective shows, Old Man, so haven't seen True Detective, but am curious as to why you think it's Millenniumistic? That could tip the scales for me, which would be good since the one show I'm watching these days finishes its season next week. I like Fargo, too:) I think late night is usually the best time for many serious tv watchers as there are fewer interruptions or distractions. Good TV shuld require some attention and concentration.
