Guest heltons01
I have seen every episode right from the night it aired on t.v. here in the states and noy untill I watched the second season on DVD that I realized that the Group sound alot like the Illuminati. They talk about "Illitiment", "needing the cross of the crucifixtion","having amazing technology" and in the episode "The Hand Of St. Sabatian" the church or some other group is trying to stop their "cause". For anyone who has read-up on the Illuminati they know about the symbols on the back of the U.S. Dollar bill. And sure enough, in the episode "The Fourth Horseman" Peter tells Frank about it. What do you guy's think?
Guest SouthernCelt
I think it's very likely the Illuminati was one inspiration for the Millennium Group mythology. That's one reason I find such shows as Millennium and books such as Dan Brown's Angels and Demons and DaVinci Code so fascinating. The only downside to the use of the Illuminati model is that it introduces fictional elements that become hard to separate from truth when it comes to reading about or otherwise delving into the real Illuminati. Guest fledgling666
there are only two things the two groups have in common, one- they are both fictional, two- there are both secret societies. that is where the similarities end. the illuminati are a group made up of the top members of the ruling elite in an underground conspiracy to take back land in europe and to influence world affairs to profit from it. the millennium group is about learning about what they deem to be the truth of the coming millennium and helping in any way they can to bring it about the way they'd like it to be brought about. very different motives, very different objectives, the only similarities lie in the fact that they are both fictional and secret. Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted January 16, 2005 Elders (Admins) Share Posted January 16, 2005 Some great posts there. Fledgeling I agree with your descriptions 100%. The Illuminati is a fascinating subject.
Guest SouthernCelt
Fledgling666, I'm unclear as to why you say the Illuminati is fictional. Whether it exists today is up for debate; however, it is well documented that an organization called the Illuminati came into being in the 1700s in Bavaria. Many authorities believe it failed &/or was driven out of existence due to its failure to promote its philosophies to garner enough support to have actual power. It is also documented that the organizer tried to transfer the Illuminati's organization into a separate order of Freemasonry but this order did not succeed either. The primary order of Freemasonry is the Scottish Rites order which takes us down all sorts of new roads -- were the Masons the resurgence of the Knights Templar, was the order the protectors of the Holy Grail, what was the Holy Grail, an object or a person, etc? Although the Illuminati may not have survived under that name, there is reason to believe that there are other organizations that have adopted some or all of the goals of the Illuminati and are active today, having both a public face and a hidden one. The Council on Foreign Relations, the Federal Reserve, and the Skull and Bones society (all of which definitely exist) are all thought to have Illuminati goals as a part of their mission. It is often said that many cultural and theological mythologies arose because of grains of truth that underwent subsequent interpretation, amplification, and alteration over time. I think the same may be true of conspiracies; therefore, I have to believe that there is/are organizations today that are enamored with or believe in the philosophy of the original Illuminati and may use the name, even if only internally. Just my thoughts...
Guest Seraphim
I agree. It is rather short sighted to say that something is fact in such a circumstance. This is not the first instance such an audacious know-it-all post was made. I swear... Though, it sounds you have researched the subject Southern Celt. ^_^ I have extensively as well. It is a very convoluted issue. There is so much heresay, that you kind of have to sift through things to make any kind of conclusions. Most of the talk of it now is from far out groups from the Christian Right. Ironically, they are rather "Illuminatist" in their own way.

I wanted to see just how much of the fiction was based on truth. Interesting that you should refer to the Christian Right as "Illuminatist" since I understand the word "Illuminati" originated in Greece in early Christian culture primarily as a defining term for graves and graveyards where Christians, the ones who had received the "illumination" of spirit, were buried. Thanks for the support of my view.
Guest heltons01
It's great to have everyone participate in this. The thing is, the second season was no longer under control on Carter, so they could do anything they wanted. Who's to say that they didn't start it out that way. The only thing I ask is that you need to remember that all of the info you get on the Illuminati can be different. Depending on where and who you get it from. hippyroo
"far out groups of the christian right"? What are you talking about? Could you give examples? Didn't hollywood just put a N. Cage movie about the Illumnati? Are you saying it was funded by some christiain groups? Or... is the "far out" a reference to the late John Denver, and these groups sing his songs in their worship? Afer all, he did talk to God in a movie, right? The Buildibergers, Illuminati, Council of Forgien Relations, the Masons, Skull and Bones, Federal Reserve System... icons for kooks, or shadows and hints of what has, is, ane will be? One way to not believe a demon is real is to make a cartoon out of him. Another is to rationalise him as a functiton of your bio-chem make up, or environmental stresses as a child. Another way is to get busy with entertainments or the struggles of living your life. A final way is to spin any truth that gets out with a lot of nonesense so that no one can know for sure what is real and what is fantasy. Wait, isn't this the script for "Somehow Satan Got Behind Me"?
