being that the Cherokee was virtually unchanged for the 14 years of it's 17 year existence, it will be very difficult to tell. as stated in another thread, i think it is a mid-nineties model 4-door, 2-wheel-drive with the 4.0L I-6 engine and auto tranny. i think that would make it the "Sport" model, if there was such a thing the year it came out, but if i remember correctly, there is no "Sport" badging on it.

Well, if you go to eBay, you'll see things like Jeep : Grand Cherokee LIMITED, Jeep : Cherokee SPORT, Jeep : Cherokee CLASSIC4x4, Jeep : Cherokee LOW RESERVE, Jeep : Cherokee Laredo 4x4, Jeep : Cherokee Pioneer ....I could go on and on. The Grand Cherokees look a lot bigger than Franks, so I guess that's out.

Anybody else?

P.S. This one looks close, but isn't quite right somehow.

this is basically it, but year differences vary body details only extremely slightly until the overhaul in 99 or so. at that point, the body got a tiny bit smoother and more rounded with more rounded fender flares. and a slight angle on the top of the tail light lenses.

I know absolutely nothing about cars, whatsoever. But I wonder if they bought a new car for the show. If they did, then as the pilot was filmed in the spring, that would narrow it down to spring of 1996.

If they did buy a second-hand car (but I don't think 1013 ever did any cheaply!) it probably wouldn't be more than a couple of years old.

A bit of Googling came up with one of those consumers sites and this might be of help:

"1994 Jeep Cherokee: New safety features included side door-guard beams and a center high-mounted stoplamp.

1995 Jeep Cherokee: A driver-side airbag arrived in 1995, and the base SE model gained reclining front bucket seats. Three models went on sale: SE, Sport, and Country (the latter 4-door only). Four-cylinder Cherokees became available later in the season with a 3-speed automatic transmission.

1996 Jeep Cherokee: The 4-cylinder dropped five horsepower, to 125, and was no longer available with the 3-speed automatic transmission. Cherokee would be redesigned for 1997."

Practically nothing of this makes any sense to me - about the only thing I know about cars is where the door handle is - and even then that can take me a while to find.

Thanks, Libby. That was helpful and humorous!

Hippyroo... My fiance and I were discussing the fact that, when we're married, we'll have need for some sort of a truck or SUV, for many reasons, and I said..."Hey, how about a Frank-mobile! :gaba: So, he and I have been looking on e-Bay, trying to see what's out there, and the prices, etc. So, I just thought I'd try to find out SPECIFICALY which model and year he had. I never realized there were so many TYPES of Jeep Cherokees! So, yes, I guess I AM in the market for one.

Another angle of the same one. As fledgling said, this is basicaly it, but something about the headlights and the front end seems "off" somehow.
