Thought I would duck in and post something in Graham's and Roedecker's new forum!

Check this site out:

The Millennium Group

Does this strike anyone else as Owl-istic?  Or perhaps a shade of what would have become of the Group if the Owls assumed control?

It's actually a very nice, interesting, and informative site.

What do you think?

Ahha, I've seen that one before! It's run by a group of elite boffins and scientists who specialise in a variety of subjects.

Good call!

Gra.

Yep, sounds like the Millennium Group/Owls to me.

Also, it struck me that the "front-company" pretense for the Owls would be something like this.  Kind of like the pretense of the Group being an investigative consultancy rather that the ancient religious sect and secret society that it was.

Ah, I remember I found that site once when searching for sites about Millennium.  I thought for a minute that it was actually a Millennium site that someone had made under the guise of the Group.

Ahha, this info from the FAQ should interest you then:

Q. Is there anything like the Millennium Group in real life?

A. Creator Chris Carter was inspired by the real-life Academy Group, a Manassas-based private consulting firm of four behavioral science profilers who used to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After several months of phone calls and letters, Carter finally received word from the Academy Group and did a little research. He described them as "the investigators after the investigation."

After Academy Group members saw The Pilot, they were impressed. "They think I took a little bit of dramatic license with the vision, but they think it is accurate to the characterizations of these men," Carter later said.  The former behavioral science profilers went on to work as consultants on the show throughout the first season. "They felt we were approaching this in a way that was responsible and interesting to them. I think it's going to give the show its believability, its honesty and the gravity that I hope will make it the show I've imagined."  However, as the series progressed, the Millennium Group drifting from its real life inspiration. The Group was no longer simply a law enforcement agency. It had a rich history and important role to play in worldwide events.

If you're interested in reading more about some of the behaviorial experts who work for the Academy Group, check out the article "Dead End" at: The Tuscon Weekly.  For information on the Behavioral Science Unit, where all of the consultants who formed The Academy Group originated from, go to: The FBI Academy.

In 1999 a group of collaborating scientist formed a real life organization known as the Millennium Group.  Their mission statement expressly explains their purposes.  "The Millennium Group is organized to create an unbiased outlet for scientific research and critical thinking. Our goal is Truth, however we do acknowledge the difficulties in attaining such a lofty destination. We respect tradition only as much as it assists us in our quest and does not hinder the journey toward our chosen goal. We believe that the right to curiosity and the knowledge it produces cannot be compromised by personal agendas or secret combinations. We stand for team work, honesty, integrity, critical review, and pure democratic convention. We place value in the information itself, not in the acclamations given to the source of such information. Finally, we believe in the power of open honest communication."  The Millennium Group can be visited online at their official website.

Indeed, there's also an article written on this scientifically based real life Millennium Group somewhere in the Millennial Comet newsletter archives.  I first heard of the group, and was directed to their website, when they were featured prominently on (surprise!) the Art Bell radio program sometime during 1999.

If you ask me, that's a lot of subtle connections between the world of Millennium and this Millennium Group.

Agreed.   This group seems...very...Millenniumistic.
