The main problem I have with Nostradamus and all the other "prophets" of that type is that the meaning of "predictions" are always defined by others who frankly use the prophetical writings to make money.

In some cases I think the "prophets" were being nonspecific deliberately so they'd have a better chance of being close enough on some future event that they'd be credited with predicting it whether it bore any relation to their vision or not.

I have do doubt that there are and were some people who sense future events in some way or other but if they can't or won't relate enough straightforward information to allow others to know exactly when, where, and how bad some event is going to be, then it can never be prevented or mitigated and becomes little more than entertainment that's kept fresh by would-be disciples of the seers.

Just my thoughts.....

Even if they're not trying to make money, prophets such as this are very vague in their descriptions and people can interpret then to fit different situations. Just as various religious sects interpret the same bible to hold different meanings.

But it's still interesting!

yes, the mind is always looking for connections.. draw some loose dots and there ya go.. prophecy

same way mind readers read you mind to.. throw out some targets for the person to latch on to and follow the dots

I don't give too much creedence when it comes to Prophets, and seers. However, I must say they are fun to read and hear.

Yup. But not always the ones intended ...

My immediate thought? That rhymes!

(Sorry, but it's getting late here and my brain is winding down. :fool: )

Makes me wish I could master the art of the cold read. Then I could get rich too.

Too vague and easily misconstrued. But still fun to read.
