Hello everyone,

I am new to the board and I apologize if the subject of this discussion has been brought up before. I have been a fan of MillenniuM from the very beginning, and I really enjoyed the direction the show was going in season two with the increase of Religious mythology. I have for all of my adult life been an amateur student of the paranormal, religion, spirituality and legend and lore. I remember how impressed I was when the episode "Anamnesis was broadcast. I thought to myself, "Wow, they have real balls to include the Gnostic Gospels and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene as anything other than speculation and heresy". The idea that MM was the 1st apostle, and the wife of Jesus Christ, let alone mother of his children, was of course not a new one, but on prime time television, it was rather daring. I also remember thinking, "I wonder how much hate mail 1013 will get over this one."

When MillenniuM was cancelled, I was saddened, but not surprised. I thought this show is too deep for the average viewer, and challenges too many "sacred cows". Now that it is 2005, and times have changed, I wonder how much of Dan Brown's success is due to MillenniuM. The DaVinci Code is nothing new, and in my mind it deals with many of the the themes and beliefs expressed years earlier in my favorite television show, albeit watered down in the DaVinci Code.

Oh well, at least I have my DVDs. I can't help but wonder however, that if Chris Carter is considering a MillenniuM Movie, the success of the DaVinci code suggests that, "The Time is Now!"

FK.

Hi,

Welcome to This Is Who We Are if I haven't welcomed you aboard yet.

I also very much enjoyed the direction Season Two took. There were some fantastic episodes, well written and well researched. It was fun to discover each new turn that the series took. The religious elements were fascinating and I really enjoyed The Hand Of Sebastian amongst others.

The Old Man :ouro:

I have to agree I liked the way season 2 went as well. You might enjoy the new show, REVELATION?

Gnosticsim is again very popular in the entertainment business. Unfortunantly, most consumers have very little history background, and confuse leisure time activates for a history lesson; a poor education indeed. Of course looking at my spelling errors shows how poor my education has been as well.

Welcome to the group, Father Kerras. And, I must say, what an impressive post... And you eccho many of my own feelings on the series.

Maybe some of us here, who understand what the series was trying to say, should create something new, someday. It'd have to wait a few years, though, in order to not look like a "cheap, Millennium rip-off".

Welcome aboard!

In retrospect, if one consider all the elements, Season II could very well be considered a linear progression from Season I. That is, in Season I we are presented with evil, with murder, with the subplot of family. Season II considers the sources of this evil, the nuances of attachment, and presents them both within the framework of Season I (e.g., death, loss, violence).
