I would have a channel devoted to (Non-fiction) unexplained phenomenon, religion, mysticism, occult, legends, parapsychology, etc.. I always thought it would be nice if there was a Discovery Channel affilate like that. "Discovery Unknown" would be a good name. I am fairly annoyed that Discovery and TLC have so much automotive and home improvement crap on. o.x And Animal Planet rarely has good documentaries on animals in the wild. The Discovery Networks (Save History and HistoryI) pretty much suck now. o.x The other thing I may do if I had my own channel, would be anime.

Oooooooooooo....excellent idea,

Here's a typical day on BBC: Ethsnafu, a channel with the lowest ratings in recorded history (and apologies to non-Limey's for any show titles that result in head scratching, and apologies to fellow UKers for Eldorado.)

*

9.00 Bagpuss/Clangers/Jamie and his Magic Torch et al (uber-retro-funk-cartoons.)

10.00 Are You Being Served?

10.30 Hi-De-Hi.

11.00 Space: 1999/UFO.

12.00 BBC News/Weather (hosted by Tom Baker.)

13.00 Carry On Film.

14.30 Tales of the Unexpected.

15.00 The Lone Gunmen.

16.00 The Adventure Game.

16.30 Knightmare.

17.00 Treasure Hunt.

18.00 Eldorado.

18.30 Vicar of Dibley.

19.00 3 Non Blondes.

19.30 Smack the Pony.

20.00 X-Files/Jonathan Creek.

21.00 Wire in the Blood.

22.00 Millennium.

23.00 Little Britain.

23.30 Nighty Night.

00.00 Schlocky-Campy-B-Movie-Video-Nasty type film.

Better go grab the fat free eggnog and get ready to watch with mother........

Till then,

ethsnafu.

Great thread, idea!

I would definitely feature all of the 1013 shows, of course.  I would also show all of the Star Treks and the ST movies.  I would have alot of scientific shows of all sorts.  I would also definitely have a public access portion of the day, where people could produce their own shows, etc.  I would love to host a show like they had in York, Pennsylvania, back in the States, called the Freethought Forum on public assess TV.  I would definitely try to create and produce shows that delt with philosophy, ethics, and rational enquiry.  I would definitely show Penn and Tellers shows, especially Bull S**T!  I would also try to create a show for https://www.csicop.org/: Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal.  I would also try to create and produce a show hosted by groups Council for Secular Humanism, American Atheists, the British Humanist Society, the Rational Press Association, the National Secular Society, etc.

I would also have lots of historical, archeological, anthropological oriented shows. I would like to have lots of astronomy and shows dealing with space and space flight, etc.

I would definitely have lots of shows like Ray Mears Bushcraft, and all kinds of shows dealing with natural science, and paleontology, etc.

Wow... could go on and on with this one.  Might have to come back for more!

Upbeat Regards,

Scott
