THE RING

Has anyone saw this movie whther it was the American remake of the Japanes original?   It sounds very Millenniumistic with the concept of people dying a week after watching a cursed video tape.     The Japan original has spawned sequells, remakes, and TV series.  There areeven books.  The Ring is based ona book.   The American remake hits video and DVD on March 4th in the US on the same day that Ringu (the Japanese original) also gets it first release in the US on DVD.  Have a better one.

I really liked it. Of course I liked Fallen a lot and some here didn't enjoy it. So take that for what it's worth. If you're a fan a blood and guts and grahphic violence then this probably isn't for you. But this along with Fallen is up there for me. I love the more mystery, atmosphere, and psychological stuff. I've rented Ringu as well and I'm planning on checking it out.

I ended up going to the Cinema last Friday night and and got in in time to see The Ring alone which made it more scary.

I thought it was the best Horror Film I'd seen for ages, great story, great acting and the end really sh*t me up!

Go see it, you'll love it!

Wow! - Excellent scary movie...just saw last night. Extremely dark - almost disturbing...and I do not disturb easily. As was previously mentioned in this topic's discussion - the ending was not anticipated...How did this go so unnoticed while on the big screen...too many weenies in critic land?

.........actually fisbin,"the ring" was the "other" sleeper hit of 2002 grossing near $120-million domesticly over,i think,a 5-6-month period,at an apprx. $30-mill cost. it is the little movie that "DID"!  the other 2 parts of the trilogy are already being readied for the script/pre-production stage!

~love this freaky flick!  :p

I did finally see the American remake of The Ring a few weeks ago.  I liked it and I thought it was a creepy movie, but I wonder who much creepier Ringu is.  I wish some of the scenes seen in the short film included with the American remake were left in the movie instead of being included in a short film.   I can see why they left some scenes out so not to give some things away too soon, but I wonder if leaving some of the scenes in the short film would have made The Ring even more creepy than it was.   Have a better one.

I liked Fallen OK, but I really loved "The Ring" a lot more. The post I am responding to is probably from way back when the movie first came out at theaters, but it seems like it was longer ago than 2003 that The Ring came out. Maybe it's just me. If there is anyone here at this point who has not seen "The Ring", I recommend it highly. I finally broke down and gave into the hype and watched this movie in the second run theater (you know, the ones that show movies a month or so after they start to run out of gas at the regular theaters and charge only $1.50) shortly after it was out at the first run theaters. Man, was I in for a pleasant surprise. I went in there expecting this to be the kind cheesy flick that teenagers really love, kind of like a "Friday the 13th mentality", but what I found was that the movie had some very good acting, a real plot and story, some very unique and creepy scenes, some legitimate scares, and some great cinematography. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would probably give it an 8.5.
