Dear TIWWA Members,

Unfortunately TIWWA Millennium message Board will have to be switched off for a period of up to 24hrs whilst our Web Server is moved to a new Data Centre.

The following e-mail has been received at rather short notice I'm afraid but explains everything. I apologise for any inconveinience but we are complying to protect the TIWWA Database. Normal Service will be resumed as soon as possible.

The Board will be switched off at 12pm UK Time.

Thank you,

Graham Smith.

NOTICE: WH1 server move scheduled for March 15, 11:00 PM EST

Dear Valued Customers,

During the past few weeks, we are sure that you have noticed some network problems and downtimes. This included slow speeds due to packet loss and also the datacenter's network completely going down. There was once again some network downtime yesterday which lasted a couple of hours. Needless to say, this is totally unacceptable both to our customers and to WiredHub. Our server has been running smoothly, but the datacenter where the server is housed has been the culprit of the recent problems. Yesterday's network downtime was the last straw. Customer service and uptime are our highest priorities and the problems at this datacenter are damaging the uptime our customers have come to expect from us. If you are reading this e-mail, it means that your website is located on the server named "WH1". WH1 is the only server housed in this particular datacenter (located in Scranton, PA, USA). We are planning to move all the websites on WH1 to a new server which is much faster and is also located in a different datacenter. The new datacenter is very promising and should provide solid uptime along with very good network redundancy. This move would be a big step as it would involve transferring Gigabytes of data to the new datacenter and also redirecting DNS to the new server. There are a few things that we would like to notify you regarding the move:

1. There is nothing that you would have to do to facilitate moving the files in your account. All the files and accounts will be moved by our staff to the new server for your convenience.

2. There might be some downtime during the move as it will involve forwarding of IPs and switching Nameservers.

3. If you have a website or part of a website that is updated frequently (for e.g. forums), we ask you to close it before 11:00 PM EST. on March 15 as that is when the move will commence. The reason for this is that during the move some of the sites which have already been moved may get updated but when the domain is pointed to the new server, it would point to the data that was originally moved and hence cause some loss in data. Please keep in mind that we are doing our best to minimize any perceived downtime or loss of data.

The next couple of days might cause some inconvenice, but once the move is done, we feel that it will be well worth it. The server will be moved to a far more redundant network with much better uptime. As, mentioned before the new server will also be much faster than the current one. This should have a very positive overall impact on your hosting experience with us.

We would like to thank you, our customers, who have been patient and understanding in these past few weeks during the problems that we faced, and assure you that we are doing everything in our power to make sure that the problems do not repeat themselves. If you have any questions or doubts, please feel free to contact us via the support desk located at https://support.wiredhub.net. Our support staff will be reachable via the support desk throughout the moving process, incase you have any further questions or need any assistance. Furthermore, you can also contact us at our support forums located at https://forum.wired-hub.net.

Warm Regards,

WiredHub Team

Dear "This Is Who We Are..." Members,

Please note that with immediate effect, the TIWWA Millennium Message Board is back online.

My apologies for any inconvenience, the Millennium Desktop UK Site and TIWWA have now been relocated on a new improved server at a new datahouse.

For those who are interested in such things, Brian Roedecker informs me that this new server is nearly 1 GHz faster than the old one!  Its a P4 2.4 GHz, the old one was a P4 1.6 GHz. Plus the new server has some really nice hardware.. including hard-drives with 8 MB cache!

Thanks again,

Graham Smith.
