Sad Day

Recommended Posts

A sad day for horror movie afficionados, yesterdays suicide bombings in Jordan resulted in the death of Moustapha Akkad, the producer of all 8 of the "Halloween" movies, orginally created by John Carpenter. Akkad and his daughter were staying in one of the hotels in Jordan attending a wedding of a family friend, both he and his daughter died as a result of their injuries. i dont know if anyone is around my age group, but the first time i saw the original "Halloween" was at the drive in, i was about 6 years old and it scared the hell out of me for months, probably the real first slasher film i ever saw, and started me down the dark road of horror film junkie:)lol, anyway, another cowardly act by terrorists takes the life of a innocent bystander, just fyi everyone.

Yeah, me too. "Outlaw Josey Wales" -- one of the best movies ever made. Bet I've watched it twenty times and never get tired of it.

when I read that the other day....man that just sucked big time, he did some great things with the movies and others he produced. What the heck was he doing in Jordan? Did he live there?

-mm

as i recall, he was a resident of california but was attending a wedding of a close family friend, he is originally from jordan but moved to the u.s. because he couldnt make horror films in that country as freely as he would have liked, i think that was in the mid to late 60's if memory serves.
