Guest Frank L. Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I will try not to get into a discussion again about the differences between season 1 and season 2, though I think we can all agree season 2 was not the show Chris Carter wanted to make. In season 1 of MillenniuM Chris Carter wrote 4 episodes (Pilot, Gehenna, The Well-Worn Lock, Lamentations). I think Pilot, Gehenna and Lamentations are all in my top 10 list. Why didn't Carter write more episodes? He was the creator of the show. Probably because he was also working on The X-Files. Don't get me wrong, The X-Files is my favorite show of all time, but couldn't he have let Frank Spotnitz run The X-Files, so he could write more for MillenniuM? What do you think?
Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted June 19, 2006 Elders (Admins) Posted June 19, 2006 Your're right I would have liked to see him write more. There again he only wrote 3 episodes for Season 3 too! TEOTWAWKI, Antipas and Seven and One. I never really thought about the episode he wrote before but thanks for that, it inspired me to go look at the ones he wrote in the new episode guide we're developing to get a list of his eps. I noticed he wrote Lamentation and Antipas - excellent stuff!
Guest colts45 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 hey i found this video on you tube and the guy that made it says something about chris carter knowing more than he's letting on there is a storm right now so i have to show you this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQXA5WnHbpA...0and%20roosters
Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted June 19, 2006 Elders (Admins) Posted June 19, 2006 That was enjoyable until I saw Bush on it, some people can't leave him out of anything!
Guest betweenthelines Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I wouldn't have minded Chris Carter writing more for "Millennium". I wish he directed an episode too; most of his directorial efforts for "The X-Files" were some of the show's finest. The writers on "Millennium", for the most part, were immensely talented, but Chris Carter did bring the show to life. Kind of strange how he had a hand in developing only seven episodes of the entire series...
HighPlainsDrifter Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 yes i agree too, if only Chris Carter would have been more involved we could of seen better eps and maybe a longer series
Guest tempusfugit Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Actually I believe the main reason he passed the torch for Season 2 was because he was working on the X-Files movie at the time. As much as season 2 was different from Season 1, Morgan and Wong did add some depth to it with the mythology which I personally loved (cool Owls/Roosters vid btw). Why Carter didn't come back for season 3 rather than passing helms yet again I have no clue. A lot of the actors he worked with say he is a true perfectionist and you can tell from the episodes he directed over the years that it's not an exageration. They're masterpieces.
Guest ModernDayMoriarty Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Regardless of your opinions on Chris Carter, one fact remains the same: there is only one of him! Because of the huge success the X-Files enjoyed, Fox asked him during TXF Season 2, to make another show. He did and it was Millennium. Now we all know this, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that Carter was 'only' able to write four episodes in S1. I say 'only' because four episodes a season is about right in most cases. Balanced with writing for the X-Files (and he was the main mythology writer so most of his time was caught up right there), doing the XF flim and overseeing all the first season of Millennium (all accounts are that he was extremely closely involved throughout the season) and you can't fault the man for sheer graft.
