Bardo Thodol
Again, it is always a bitter sweet experience to find out that there will be a MillenniuMistic show or movie comming out. And this is yet another. I actually can't believe that someone didn't post something about this here yet. I have been seeing the preview for the film for sometime now when I got to see a film at the theatre. It stars Heath Ledger as Roman Catholic priest who has a special ability or "gift" to solve certain mysterious, extraordinary, or seemingly unsolvable occurances or crime cases. At one point early in the preview the lead female character explains that Heath Ledger's character was brought in as a "consultant" on the case of her brother's murder. The plot seems to involve a secret society/sect called The Order (HELLO... The Group, The Family, The [fill in the Millennium one word group of your choice]), who are a bunch rogue priests operating outside the jurisdiction of the Church. One of the purposes of The Order seems to be to take control of the "empire" of the Roman Catholic Church/Vatican. Sounds like the control fixation of The Group to me - only theirs was one of control of everyone and all society and civilization. The Order also seems to be employing the services of a "supernatural killer" to do their bidding! HELLO! Mabius/Legion much! Has anyone else seen the preview for this? I have only see it at the theatre. And I like I said, I have been seeing the theatre preview for it for some time. I have yet to see the preview on TV. Elders (Admins) The Old Man Posted July 28, 2003 Elders (Admins) Share Posted July 28, 2003 Hi Scott, I have never heard of this movie at all. Sounds like many of the films concepts were certainly inspired by Millennium. Perhaps there is a direct influence in writers or production crew? Gra. Bardo Thodol
Okay, I did a little research. It was written and directed by Brian Helgeland. I definitely think this guy was a MillenniuM fan himself. Let's take a look at the screenplays he has done and his writing. Well, first of all... BLOOD WORK! HELLLOOOO! Remember all the MillenniuMistic and Frank-istic elements of this film! Secondly, The Postman... so potentially an apocalypse/post-apocalyptic buff. Conspiracy Theory, and LA Confidential. Are we seeing a pattern here? Okay, let's finish it off with... Highway to Hell (comedic horror film), 976-Evil, Nightmare on Elm Street 4, Friday the 13th the Series!!! Okay, so... if this guy doesn't fit the friggin profile of a MillenniuM fan and viewer, I don't know who would! Thanks for giving me the idea to research this a bit! Here's a description of the film from the Internet Movie Database: Plot Summary for Order, The (2003) Page 6 of 20 Alex Bernier (Ledger) is a member of an arcane order of priests known as Carolingians. When the head of the order dies, Alex is sent to Rome to investigate mysterious circumstances surrounding the death. The body bears strange marks on the chest which may or may not be the sign of a Sin Eater (Furmann), a renegade who offers absolution, last rites and therefore a path to heaven outside the jurisdiction of the church. Alex enlists the aid of his old comrade Father Thomas (Addy) and of a troubled artist (Sossamon) upon whom he once performed an exorcism. He soon finds himself plunged into a mystery only to find himself at the heart of it. Plot Summary for The Order at IMDB
Guest Justa Fan
Dear Psycho, Nope, haven't heard of this film at all. Have you seen the trailer recently? Sounds like an interesting plot line....very Millennium inspired. Hope it doesn't end up a direct to video release or some limited engagement type of deal. Bardo Thodol
It is definitely going to be in the theatres. I can remember when it said it would be released. If you go to www.imdb.com you can see a trailer for yourself, if you like. Scott
