Guest Justa Fan
This is a good film that went completely unnoticed by me. Zip....under my radar! David Caruso is the "star." It must have been made before his involvement in CSI Miami. The release date on the DVD is 2001. It's filmed on location at the Danvers Mental Hospital outside Boston. Briefly, it's about a Hazmat Company removing asbestos from the old mental hospital..... enough said...no spoilers here. If you like 'em creepy....get your hands on a copy of this movie. Once again it's...."Session 9"...check it out.

This movie is original, unique, creepy, and brilliantly written, and it stayed with me for days. This one flew right under my radar as well, and I never did hear about it until after is was out on DVD. I now have it on my list of must rent films during the Halloween season. David Caruso does a great job, and yes, I believe this was filmed just before CSI Miami started. It's really a shame that Caruso didn't pick more roles and films like this instead of some of the flops he picked between NYPD Blue and CSI Miami. If you have not seen this film, rent it, you wont be sorry.

DAMN! I mean how many films are there that can quietly (and very disquietingly) lead you little by little, excruciatingly pulling your nerves tighter and tighter and build such tension and suspense without really ever giving anything away. The editing, timing, pacing... EVERYTHING is exquisite. I say it again... DAMN good film! One of the best ever; these kind don't come along very often... In fact, it might have been the best horror flick I saw that year, or at least very close. It was really an incredibly pleasant surprise, given the fact that I had never heard of it before renting it, and that I went into it with no expectations. That movie was just so creepy, especially listening to the tapes of the sessions. I'll have to look into who directed it and what else he has done. Your review says it all, it just keeps pulling you in and pushing your buttons. I hate to keep harping on directorial style, but this movie oozed style and they perfected that sinister, eerie feeling of the hospital with the setting and filming style. Add a brilliant script, perfect casting and fantastic acting, and you have the perfect psychological thriller/horror flick. I love it when a movie throws away gimicks and special effects and relies on top notch writing and directing.
