Is This Who We Are?

Been thinking about how this series shows man as the real monster and Frank as the true hero, and then i watch the news about the things mankind does to each other from murder to bizarre behavior to one another. On the other side are people saving each other from danger and becoming a hero to a stranger.

Then my mind seems to wonder about what i am beginning to think.

Are we actually Angels and Demons?

something to think about

It's funny, for some reason this brings to mind a scene between Catherine and Frank in 522666. Frank is in the hospital, and I think they are talking about the evil that Raymond Dees is doing out there. Catherine says to Frank something to the effect of "For every dark soul you run across, there is a bright one, like the man who helped you today in the explosion." Ironically, the person who helped Frank was Raymond Dees himself, trying to escalate his excitement by controlling the explosions so he could be inside the chaos.

As you say, it is completely mind boggling to see what man is capable of and capable of doing to other man (and woman of course). I seem to recall a quote from a great man that goes something like this: "Man is evil, capable of nothing but destruction". Oh yes, it was the great Roedecker who said that. :oneeyedwinK

My Dad has the same type of sense of humor and often pessimistic view of people as me, and I often make jokes with him along the lines of thinking that maybe we are humans and that many of the idiots we have to deal with are actually just shells of humans who have been taken over by demonic spirits. Sometimes I wonder if this is the actually true when you consider how destructive and bothersome people can be, and that it seems like some people have been put on Earth for no other purpose than to be an obstacle and burden to the human spirit. I know it is a pet peeve of mine and some here might even think it is an obsession, but sometimes I am only half joking when I wonder if people having these "boom" stereos is a clear sign that they are possessed by a demonic spirit. I was planning on enjoying a nice holiday at home today, and the neighbor started with that crap and I finally had to just leave and hope he was done by the time I got back. I swear that crap shakes the windows, and you can hear it in your basement with the headphones on. :ranting: I know that I am no angel, but there are a great number of people I run across in every day life where I find myself wondering if there is some kind of greater evil that goes from one week mind to another collecting servants. Then again, every day you see examples of selfless acts of heroism and good deeds, and you wonder if these people have been touched by an angel. Like you said, something to think about, and something that has been covered in countless shows and movies. Is there a greater evil out there, evil with a capital E? Is there a God and a Satan and angels, or are there just people who are the product of their environment, conditioning, and genetics. That kind of reminds me of a Mike Atkins quote, "evil is born of a week mind and a cold heart" or something to that effect. Of course, as Mike was saying that, Frank was starting to subscribe to the other point of view... that there is a greater evil out there.

Fascinating discussion guys! And quite understandable questions for anyone with a logical mind.

For what it's worth, I will state a simple neutral list of the reasons that I personally believe explains these kind of things. Obviously the statements above strongly lend themselves to religious areas which the show itself explores quite extensively. I promise to keep it very BRIEF & CONCISE (for MillenniuMisBliss that means 'short' [just kidding there my friend])

I understand that many here may disagree, and that certainly is perfectly fine; my intent is not to insist on these things but merely present them humbly and neutrally because you may find them interesting (I hope you are paying attention 4H :oneeyedwinK )

1. The primary issue involved is Universal Sovereignty (God's right to rule) [Gen 3:1-5]

(basically Satan challenging that God's way is not necessarily the best, thus promoting rebellion)

2. God is allowing a period of time to prove categorically for all time that this will fail [Gen. 3:15]

(At the end of which time He will step in with His Kingdom and set all things right as in the beginning)

3. Due to this allowance, Man has come up with some pretty nasty things (as mentioned above by MIB)

[Eph. 4:17-20]

4. Satan and his Demons were cast to the Earth, thus making it REALLY nasty [Rev. 12:7-12]

5. Therefore at this current time Satan is actually the 'God of this world' [2 Cor. 4:3,4; John 12:31, 16:11;

1 Pet. 5:8]

And, as Revelation 12 noted above mentions, Satan KNOWS his time is short so he is kicking some SERIOUS @ss!

That is about as simple as I can state it; of course there is a WHOLE lot more detail and of course the 'Good News' of how it all ends up, but I just wanted specifically to address what MIB and Joe and mentioned above.

This is a fasinating discussion!!!!! I feel so dwarfed by all these incredible minds!!!

Well, that is extremely kind of you to say! But, no, merely like any field of interest or study, you learn things as you go...

It's funny you used that expression though, it's such a fantastic coincidence because MillenniuMIsBliss does indeed have a dwarf mind. I think I caught a glimpse of it once; it kinda looked like a prune, but a little smaller...

And it had this unusual odor...

L@the, I don't want to embarrass you, but I think that is one of your gore infested dreams that you are referring to. Then again, from your description, I am guessing that maybe you saw my brain as I was getting out of the pool and you didn't take shrinkage into consideration. This, however, does not account for the unusual odor, but I can only guess that maybe it was actually the smell of your own brain frying as you tried to comprehend the magnitude of sheer brilliance before you.
