I just have to ask. Who of all of you out there think Mulder and Scully are just ment for one another? I think they go to there like.... well something that goes to gather really well. Or do you just think they should (have?) just be friends? is their relationship something more that just and emotional attachment?

I was never a Shipper.  A staunch NoRomo, in fact.  I saw the end of sexual tension ruin too many of my shows before, and therefore decided, never again.  It was about too much more than just the tension for that to be my focus.  But alas, they ended it the wrong way for my tastes.  Not that I don't like the tension -- hey, if you look at the movies I like, you'll see that I am hopelessly romantic when it comes to things like that (I spent yesterday watching a marathon of Gene Kelly movies on TCM, and that's what they're ALL about).  I just didn't want that for Mulder and Scully.

Hi

Same for me! I do not think they were meant for that. However, they never seemed to have a life of their own. What do they do when they are not investigating? Who do they stick with? What refrain them from mutual attraction? I see them as brother/daughter, and I think they are different enough not to feel too much attracted. And I am with Laura, breaking the tension would have ruined the show, made it too much foreseeable.

I have to say that I am have wavered back and forth with this since the beginning.  I really enjoyed that sexual tension between them, as well as all the points where their showed affection to each other in various way.  I also loved when you would see jealosy in either of them because of some current or past romantic interest, friendship, or professional associate.  However, this is where it all split.  Part of me was always awaiting some further hint or movement toward a romo between them, and wanted to see it eventually come to fruition.  But, part of me never wanted this to happen, and just have them go right on with the tension, affection, and devotion to each other.

Now, the way the brought them together in the end was just at all the manner or time table in which I would have envisioned it.  The romo, just like most other aspects of the show, got semi-resolved and wrapped up waaaaay to quickly, because they saw the writing on the wall of the shows ratings demise.  So, I really didn't like how they finally did come together.  I would have envisioned it taken much longer than this to happen.  It would have been a perfect thing to work out in a movie, etc.  Anyway, that is my 2 cents.

I must admit.... I was in the minority on this one in my family.  I was the only one in my family that saw something between them from the begging.  And, I felt that they belonged together... not just out of some ultra-female romance gene in me, but because I saw how they brought out the best in each other.  In a world where there are so many bad marriges and bad examples of relationships on tv, I liked the way that Mulder and Scully bonded as close friends first, and each went through the stages of growth they needed to go through, both in their own persional lives, and as "friends/partners", before they became romanticly involved.  It's like the classic old saying about looking so hard for something, and all the while it's right under your nose!

(Gee... I sound like I've been thinking about this too much, don't I?) :kissing:

I think after the lip lock in "Fight The Future"

the noromo idea was pretty well crushed.

Or was it a near miss?  That damn Bee !!

I think the big question now is when will they

get MARRIED?  We can't have little William living

the life of a b******* (or can we?)

I've heard rumours that Mulder left after the birth

of William to avoid child support.  I don't believe this !

I'm sure he was running from the Super Soldiers !!

I'd classify myself as 'shipper hater' :grin2: Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed watching the M & S romance during seasons 1-5 but then it started getting melodramatic. It used to be interesting and even realistic but then I just started hating how stereotypical it turned out to be.

What mostly pisses me off is how they destroyed Scully's character during the last two seasons. She became weak, stupid, dependent and whiny. It was just too annoying. The last season for example - Episodes such as Providence & The Truth were horrible - Scully wasn't her strong self anymore.

They putted an end to once wonderful relationship in the end of 'Requiem' where Scully informs Skinner that she's pregnant. 'Existence' was the most horrible piece of television crap I had ever seen. I couldn't believe my eyes. My favorite tv show ever was destroyed. f*** Carter. f*** Scully for accepting the scripts she was given during the last two seasons.:angry_steaming_big:

Luckily I can still watch as many times as I want episodes such as 'Never Again', 'One Breath' etc. where the M & S relationship still shines.

And if they bring that devilspawn William back in the second The X-Files movie I'm going to commit a suicide strike at Carter's house :devil01:
