  1. Hi All, Been waaaaay too long between visits to this site but last night I watched "Untraceable" on DVD and like all of the above posts the similarities are there. I did think that there may have been a tip of the hat to MLM however as the main character lives in a house that is remarkably like the Yellow house. It is certainly shot in the same dark tones as MLM. Regards StuartW
  2. Just checked my archive and I no longer have the psd file anymore. If it helps the font that I used to create the text is Batik Regular.ttf and is in the download section of this site. StuartW
  3. Hi Benjamin, Welcome from another Australian who also came late to MM via the DVD’s. This is a great discussion forum and although I have been an infrequent visitor of late due to work and some personal issues there are some great discussions to get involved in. StuartW

  8. To both Norman and ethsnafu I am in awe of this thread also. A truely scholarly work. Thank you. StuartW
  9. It was my pleasure, glad you enjoyed the program. StuartW
  10. Erin, If your computer is running a form of windows operating system IE will probably be in there even if you don't normally use it. As it comes packaged with Windows. Hope it works for you. StuartW
  11. Ethsnafu the "nostalgic element" I think is probably what has driven my observation and question. That and the fact that I guess I have never felt that I have been that comfortable with the enigmatic handling of the character of Watts from season 1 & 2. Thanks for your comments. StuartW
  12. Hi Erin, There is an Australian Science writer and scholar who wrote a short article on GSR, here is an excerpt. The process of generating GSR begins in the barrel of the gun, when you pull the trigger, and the firing pin smashes into the primer at the blunt end of the bullet. The primer usually has three chemicals in it - the initiator which goes bang from the impact (lead styphnate), the fuel (antimony sulphide) and the oxidizer (barium nitrate). The primer then ignites the much bigger main charge of explosive. The main charge then turns into gas, which comes out of the back end of the cartridge, so pushing the lead bullet in the opposite direction. It's a simple and very dangerous application of Chemistry and Newton's Laws of Motion. The very high temperatures and pressures turn the lead antimony and barium into a gas that condenses into tiny, invisible spheres. They range in size from 0.5 to 10 microns (a micron is a millionth of a metre, and a human hair is about 70 microns thick). Some of these tiny spheres are solid and can fall out of the air in just 90 seconds, while others are hollow and take up to eight minutes to land. So the first problem with the GSR technique is that a shooter can fire a gun and immediately rush out of the room, so not getting any GSR on them. But an innocent bystander, coming to investigate the incident anywhere within the next eight minutes, could have lots of GSR landing on them. The second problem is that of "cross contamination". GSR is like talcum powder, and is easily shaken or washed off the hands of the guilty party. In fact, sweat is enough to wash it off - so it moves around easily. GSR is found in most American police cars, police stations and investigation rooms. It's incredibly easy for an innocent person to brush up against a contaminated surface and transfer some GSR on to themselves. Full article found here https://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/s1878536.htm So looks like it is not as reliable as one may think. Hope this helps. StuartW
  13. What an amazingly insightful thread. Thank you all for the in depth coverage of what I had thought was a somewhat disjointed episode I had made some of the connections but only a few. Now I will be re-watching it with a renewed interest and appreciation. I must say on a preferential note that I would like to believe that Watts was questioning the MG. Originally his character was a “true believer” but as time had passed and through his experiences with Frank elements of his faith had been tested and questions raised. I can relate to that charater trait I guess. I would have loved to know, had the series continued, if Watts would have held to his true beliefs, those things that attracted him to the MG originally and worked within the MG to change their direction back to those beliefs or bailed out altogether? Watts the catalyst to get Frank into the Group then Frank the catalyst to get Watts out of the Group?
  14. I have read extensively on the Templars and can endorse Southern Celt's recommendation "Born in Blood" is by John J Robinson and is an excellent resource for further details on the Templars. King Philip of France also called Philip the Fair (Not because he was a fair king but because of his light colour) had been given protection by the Templars and while being housed in their protection realised the great wealth that they possessed. Then greed overtook any gratitude he may of had and when he was in financial trouble, he even devalued the coinage of France to help him prop up his reign, he planned how he could get his hands on their wealth. As they say the rest is history. StuartW
  15. Hi Erin, No current inmate in the Federal Prison System by that name according to the Fed Board of Prisons website. As you know there is one inmate by that name in the GA state prison but not for murder I don't know the geography well enough to know other near by states. It will be interesting to see what the full storey is when you get your briefing. StuartW
