It's hard to tell this an episode you don't like. I agree mostly but don't believe that Peter, consciously or unconsciously attempted to set Frank up. I didn't get that. If anything I think he was using him but for the most part agree with his reasons that admits to Frank.

And I think you mean Cheryl Andrews

After having sent this reply as a report by mistake I will now have to write it again! And well caught to Stranger on the Andrews thing. A Freudian slip that comes from posting after no sleep! I believe it is correct now.

Basically, I don't think Peter would have killed Frank but the opportunity was there. The lure of the Hand caused Peter to turn from his friends at the Group and bring Frank in to help him. But when they arrive he refuses to tell him anything, works on his own and seems very envious of Frank's abilities. All this after he has been frustrated in his efforts on the computer and knows Andrews is on the hunt too. His need for the Hand here seems to have warped him and I honestly believe he would have left Frank and pursued it on his own had the information he needed been in the computers. I don't believe for one second that he consciously intended to kill Frank at any point but he certainly lost trust in him halfway through as the greed overtook him. But this is the trial and Peter passes because he is (at least in S2) a man of great moral courage and loyalty to his friends. The episode shows this to be true placing it in stark contrast with people like Andrews who fall from the path. The opportunity to kill Frank was there but he didn't hesitate in saving him proving his worth to possess the Hand (which tells him that he didn't it anyway).

Thanks very much Stranger for allowing me the opportunity of clarifying myself on a very sleep-deprived post (and correcting my mistakes which we shall never speak of again!)
